Please help me calculate my conception period?
Hello Doctor, my last menstrual period was on December 28, lasting for 7 days.
However, my cycle is irregular, approximately 33 to 34 days.
On the last day of my period, I had intercourse with my boyfriend and he ejaculated inside.
On January 12, we had unprotected intercourse, and afterward, I noticed a light pink discharge.
I also took emergency contraception.
Could this be a sign of early implantation? I had intercourse with my boyfriend a few days before the 12th, and I tested positive for pregnancy in early February.
I consulted with an obstetrician, and my estimated due date is around October 5 or 6.
Could you please tell me if I conceived outside of the 12th, and if so, was it earlier or later?

Hello, if the due date is around October 5th or 6th, conception may have occurred in mid-January, but it is not possible to pinpoint the exact day.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
To calculate your conception date and understand your fertility timeline, it's essential to consider several factors, including your menstrual cycle, ovulation timing, and any sexual activity that may have occurred around your ovulation period.
Based on the information you provided, your last menstrual period (LMP) started on December 28, and your cycle typically ranges from 33 to 34 days. This means that your next expected period would be around January 30 or 31. Ovulation typically occurs about 14 days before your next period, which would place your ovulation around January 16 or 17, considering your cycle length.
You mentioned having unprotected intercourse on January 12, which is a few days before your estimated ovulation. Sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to five days, so it is possible for sperm from intercourse on January 12 to still be viable when you ovulate. Therefore, if you conceived around this time, it could be due to intercourse on January 12 or the days leading up to ovulation.
Regarding the light pink discharge you experienced after intercourse, this could be due to several reasons. It might be related to cervical irritation from intercourse or could indicate implantation bleeding if conception occurred shortly before this discharge. However, without further context, it's challenging to determine the exact cause.
You also mentioned taking emergency contraception. Emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs) are most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse, ideally within 72 hours. They work primarily by delaying ovulation, which can prevent pregnancy if taken before ovulation occurs. If you took the ECP after January 12, it might have influenced your ovulation timing, potentially delaying it.
As for your pregnancy test results in early February, if you received a positive result, it indicates that you are pregnant. The estimated due date of October 5 or 6 suggests that conception likely occurred around January 12 or shortly thereafter, aligning with your ovulation window.
In summary, while it is possible that you conceived from intercourse on January 12, it is also plausible that conception occurred from sexual activity on the days leading up to that date. Given your irregular cycle, pinpointing the exact date of conception can be challenging. However, based on your provided details, it seems likely that conception occurred around the time of ovulation, which would be consistent with your due date estimation.
If you have further concerns about your pregnancy or menstrual cycle, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider who can provide personalized guidance and support. Regular prenatal care is essential for monitoring the health of both you and your baby throughout your pregnancy.
