Menstruation is delayed by 6 days with increased discharge?
Last month, my period started on March 8 and ended on March 14.
The day after it ended, I had intimate relations with my boyfriend, and there was ejaculation.
This month, before April 8, I experienced noticeable breast and nipple tenderness that lasted for about two days before returning to normal.
I also noticed an increase in discharge.
I would like to know if I need to rule out the possibility of pregnancy, as my period is already six days late.
I haven't been under much stress lately, and my menstrual cycle has been irregular in the past, often accompanied by significant pain.

Hello, the questioner: Since it is not possible to determine pregnancy based solely on subjective symptoms, it is recommended that if your period is more than a week late, you should take a urine test to check for pregnancy.
Thank you! Wishing you peace and health.

When it comes to a missed period and changes in discharge, it’s understandable to feel concerned, especially if you have a history of irregular cycles and painful menstruation. Given that your last period started on March 8 and ended on March 14, and you had unprotected intercourse shortly after, it is indeed possible that you could be pregnant, particularly since your period is now six days late.
The symptoms you describe, such as breast tenderness and increased discharge, can be indicative of early pregnancy. Breast tenderness is a common early sign due to hormonal changes, particularly the increase in estrogen and progesterone levels that occur after conception. Increased vaginal discharge can also be a normal part of early pregnancy as the body prepares for the changes that come with carrying a fetus.
To determine whether you are pregnant, the most reliable method is to take a home pregnancy test. These tests are designed to detect the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. If you take a test and it shows a positive result, it is advisable to schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider for confirmation and to discuss your next steps.
If the test is negative and your period still does not arrive, it may be worth consulting with your healthcare provider. They can help investigate other potential causes for your missed period, such as hormonal imbalances, stress, or other medical conditions. Given your history of irregular cycles, it’s not uncommon for periods to be delayed or missed altogether.
In terms of timing, if you are considering taking a pregnancy test, it is generally recommended to wait at least a week after your missed period for the most accurate results. However, some sensitive tests can detect pregnancy a few days before your expected period.
If you are experiencing significant discomfort or any unusual symptoms, such as severe pain or heavy bleeding, it is important to seek medical attention promptly. These could be signs of complications, such as an ectopic pregnancy, which can occur when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus.
In summary, while your symptoms could suggest pregnancy, the best course of action is to take a home pregnancy test and consult with your healthcare provider for further evaluation. Early detection and appropriate care are crucial for a healthy pregnancy, should you be pregnant. If you are not pregnant, your provider can help you understand your cycle better and address any underlying issues that may be affecting your menstrual health.
