Pain in Right Testicle While Walking: Causes and Concerns Explained - Urology

There is a pinching pain in the right testicle when walking?

Today, while walking, I suddenly experienced pain in my right testicle, similar to being pinched, and the pain radiated to my lower abdomen.
It occurs when I make larger movements.
After returning home and taking a shower, I checked my testicles and found a small hard lump above the right testicle.
I did not feel the left testicle, but I experienced the same pain while walking when I touched the small lump.
What could this be? P.S.
This has never happened before!

Aze, 30~39 year old female. Ask Date: 2016/04/28

Dr. Fu Shizhang reply Urology

Based on the symptoms described, it is possible that there is epididymitis.
It is recommended to visit an outpatient clinic for examination.
Online consultations cannot replace an in-person evaluation and physical examination by a physician.
If there is a medical condition, it is still advised to seek care at a healthcare facility.

More Info

Experiencing sudden pain in the right testicle while walking can be concerning and warrants a thorough evaluation. The pain you describe, particularly if it feels like a squeezing sensation and radiates to the lower abdomen, could be indicative of several potential issues. The presence of a small hard lump above the testicle adds another layer of complexity to your symptoms.

Possible Causes
1. Epididymitis: This is an inflammation of the epididymis, the tube that carries sperm from the testicle. It can cause pain and swelling in the affected testicle and may be accompanied by a lump. Epididymitis can be caused by infections, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or urinary tract infections.

2. Testicular Torsion: This is a medical emergency where the spermatic cord becomes twisted, cutting off blood supply to the testicle. Symptoms include sudden, severe pain, swelling, and sometimes nausea. If you suspect torsion, seek immediate medical attention, as it can lead to loss of the testicle if not treated promptly.

3. Hernia: An inguinal hernia occurs when tissue, such as part of the intestine, protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. This can cause pain in the groin and may be felt in the testicle, especially during physical activity.

4. Varicocele: This is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum, which can cause a dull ache or discomfort, particularly when standing or during physical activity. It may not always present with a hard lump, but it can lead to a feeling of heaviness in the affected testicle.

5. Testicular Tumor: While less common, a lump on the testicle could indicate a tumor. Testicular cancer typically presents as a painless lump, but it can also cause discomfort or pain in some cases.

Recommendations
Given the sudden onset of pain and the discovery of a hard lump, it is crucial to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Here are some steps you should take:
- Consult a Healthcare Provider: Schedule an appointment with a urologist or your primary care physician. They will perform a physical examination and may order imaging tests, such as an ultrasound, to assess the condition of your testicles and surrounding structures.

- Avoid Physical Strain: Until you have been evaluated, try to avoid activities that exacerbate the pain, such as heavy lifting or vigorous exercise.

- Document Symptoms: Keep track of any additional symptoms you experience, such as swelling, changes in urination, fever, or any other unusual signs. This information can be helpful for your healthcare provider.

- Do Not Delay: If the pain worsens or if you experience severe symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or fever, seek emergency medical care immediately.

Conclusion
While there are several potential causes for your symptoms, only a healthcare professional can provide an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Early intervention is key, especially if there is a risk of conditions like testicular torsion or infection. Do not hesitate to reach out for medical help to ensure your health and well-being.
