Could this be epididymitis?
Hello, doctor: I would like to ask, after having an erection 2 or 3 times without ejaculation, I feel testicular pain about 15 minutes later.
Is this because the sperm got trapped during the response, or is there another reason? If so, could this lead to epididymitis? I do not experience any pain during ejaculation after a normal first erection.
Yan, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2016/05/13
Dr. Chen Jiansheng reply Urology
Hello Mr.
Yan: Patients with epididymitis typically experience persistent pain and even fever, along with swelling of the testicles and epididymis.
If you have any of these symptoms, please seek medical attention promptly at the Urology Department of Xinying Hospital, Dr.
Chen Jian-Sheng.

Repeated erections without ejaculation can lead to discomfort and pain in the testicles, but they are not typically a direct cause of epididymitis. Epididymitis is an inflammation of the epididymis, often caused by infections, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or urinary tract infections (UTIs). However, the discomfort you are experiencing may be related to a condition known as "blue balls," which occurs when there is prolonged sexual arousal without ejaculation.
When you experience an erection, blood flows into the penis, causing it to become engorged. If this state of arousal continues without ejaculation, the blood vessels may remain dilated, leading to a buildup of pressure in the genital area. This can result in a feeling of heaviness or discomfort in the testicles, which some individuals describe as aching or pain. The pain is usually temporary and resolves after ejaculation or after some time has passed.
While repeated erections without ejaculation can cause temporary discomfort, they do not typically lead to epididymitis. Epididymitis is more commonly associated with infections or other underlying medical conditions. If you are experiencing persistent pain in the testicles, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional for a proper evaluation. They may perform a physical examination and possibly order tests, such as a urine analysis or ultrasound, to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms.
In summary, while repeated erections without ejaculation can lead to temporary discomfort in the testicles, they are not a direct cause of epididymitis. If you are concerned about your symptoms or if the pain persists, it is advisable to seek medical attention to rule out any potential infections or other issues that may require treatment.
