Sudden decrease in semen volume and consistency becoming more watery?

Hello doctor, I noticed that since last week, my semen has not been as thick as it used to be, and the volume has decreased, resembling more of a watery consistency.
I asked many people, and they suggested it might be due to excessive frequency.
However, I hadn't masturbated for four days prior to that day.
In the past, after just one day of abstinence, it would return to normal.
Before I noticed this abnormality, there was one night when I masturbated three times.
But previously, I only needed to wait one or two days for it to normalize.
After that, I had an intimate moment with my girlfriend, but we didn't have intercourse; I was on top while she was below, with clothes on.
When I got home, I felt a sensation in my lower abdomen similar to being kicked in the testicles, and that spreading pain lasted longer than before.
I also noticed that previously, I would feel tired immediately after ejaculation, and there was a sensation of emptiness below, but now those feelings are gone.
I looked online for symptoms related to blocked ejaculatory ducts or prostatitis, but none of those seemed to match my situation.
Nevertheless, I am still a bit worried.
Is this just a precursor to something? I had a hernia surgery when I was in kindergarten; could that have any impact? If none of these are the causes, then why has my semen suddenly become so scant and watery? I truly don't believe I have been excessive in frequency; even if I had, it used to only take one or two days to recover.

Hello Mr.
Jay: Instead of worrying excessively, it would be better to undergo a semen analysis, which is both objective and can help alleviate anxiety.

Understanding sudden changes in semen volume and consistency can be concerning, especially when these changes are accompanied by discomfort or pain. Based on your description, it seems you have experienced a notable decrease in the thickness and volume of your semen, which has become more watery than usual. Additionally, you mentioned experiencing a sensation of pain in your lower abdomen, akin to being kicked in the testicles, which has persisted longer than before.
Firstly, it's important to recognize that variations in semen volume and consistency can occur for a variety of reasons. Factors such as frequency of ejaculation, hydration levels, diet, stress, and overall health can all influence these changes. In your case, you mentioned that you had engaged in sexual activity multiple times in a short period, which could contribute to temporary changes in semen quality. Typically, after frequent ejaculation, it may take some time for the body to replenish seminal fluid, leading to a decrease in volume and changes in consistency.
However, the fact that you have experienced discomfort and a prolonged sensation of pain is noteworthy. While occasional discomfort can occur after vigorous sexual activity, persistent pain may indicate an underlying issue. Conditions such as epididymitis (inflammation of the epididymis), prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate), or even a hernia could potentially cause the symptoms you describe. Given your history of hernia surgery, it is also worth considering whether any complications from that surgery could be contributing to your current symptoms.

Regarding your concerns about potential blockages in the reproductive tract or prostatitis, it is essential to note that these conditions often present with additional symptoms, such as pain during urination, changes in urinary frequency, or fever. Since you did not mention these symptoms, it may be less likely that you are experiencing a significant blockage or infection, but it is not entirely out of the question.

It is also important to consider psychological factors. Stress and anxiety can significantly impact sexual health and function, leading to changes in libido, ejaculation frequency, and even physical sensations. If you are feeling anxious about these changes, it could exacerbate the situation.

In summary, while occasional changes in semen volume and consistency can be normal, especially after increased sexual activity, the presence of persistent pain and discomfort warrants further investigation. It would be advisable to consult a healthcare professional, preferably a urologist, who can perform a thorough examination and possibly recommend tests to rule out any underlying conditions. They may consider a physical examination, ultrasound, or other diagnostic tests to assess your reproductive health.

In the meantime, ensure you stay hydrated, maintain a balanced diet, and manage stress levels. Keeping track of any additional symptoms or changes can also be helpful when discussing your concerns with a healthcare provider. Remember, it's always better to seek professional advice when it comes to health-related issues, especially those involving discomfort or changes in bodily functions.
