Difficulty breathing?
I have been experiencing these symptoms for a long time, but recently they have worsened.
I have chest pain, difficulty breathing, and before going to sleep at night, I feel like I'm not breathing properly, which causes me to wake up frequently.
I went to the hospital and underwent a brief electrocardiogram, blood tests, chest X-ray, and blood pressure measurement.
The doctor mentioned that my blood pressure is slightly low.
I also feel like I have very little blood; I experience nosebleeds, and sometimes I have external bleeding.
My eating and drinking habits are not healthy, so I might have issues related to anemia or something similar (although it seems unrelated?).
Additionally, I am quite young, so I have been categorized as having psychological issues.
While it does seem to be a psychological problem, even after trying to relax, I still experience some discomfort.
This issue has been bothering me for quite a while.
I hope the doctor can help clarify my doubts.
Thank you!

Understanding breathing difficulties, especially when accompanied by chest pain, can be quite complex. Your symptoms of chest pain, difficulty breathing, and feelings of not being able to breathe properly at night can stem from various causes, both physical and psychological.
Firstly, it’s important to acknowledge that chest pain and breathing difficulties can be indicative of serious medical conditions, such as heart problems, lung issues, or gastrointestinal disorders. However, given that you have undergone several tests including an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests, and chest X-rays, and the results were normal, it suggests that there may not be an acute physical cause for your symptoms.
One potential explanation for your symptoms could be related to anxiety or panic attacks. These conditions can manifest physically, leading to sensations of chest pain and difficulty breathing. When under stress or anxiety, the body can enter a heightened state of alertness, which may cause hyperventilation (rapid or deep breathing) and result in feelings of breathlessness. This is often accompanied by physical symptoms such as chest tightness or pain.
Additionally, your mention of low blood pressure and potential anemia could also contribute to feelings of fatigue and breathlessness. Anemia, which is a deficiency in the number or quality of red blood cells, can lead to insufficient oxygen delivery to tissues, causing fatigue and shortness of breath. If you suspect you might be anemic, it would be wise to discuss this with your healthcare provider, who may recommend further testing, such as a complete blood count (CBC), to evaluate your red blood cell levels.
Moreover, lifestyle factors such as poor diet and lack of exercise can exacerbate these symptoms. A diet lacking in essential nutrients can lead to deficiencies that affect your overall health, including your blood health. Incorporating a balanced diet rich in iron, vitamin B12, and folate can help improve your blood health and potentially alleviate some of your symptoms.
It’s also worth considering the role of sleep in your overall well-being. Poor sleep quality can significantly impact both physical and mental health, leading to increased stress and exacerbating feelings of anxiety. If you find yourself waking frequently at night due to breathing difficulties, it may be beneficial to explore sleep hygiene practices or consult a sleep specialist.
In conclusion, while your symptoms may have a psychological component, it is essential to rule out any underlying medical conditions. Continuing to work with your healthcare provider is crucial. They may recommend seeing a specialist, such as a pulmonologist for lung-related issues, or a mental health professional to address anxiety or stress management techniques.
In the meantime, focusing on lifestyle changes—such as improving your diet, engaging in regular physical activity, and practicing relaxation techniques—can be beneficial. These changes can help improve your overall health and may alleviate some of the symptoms you are experiencing. Remember, it’s important to listen to your body and seek help when needed.
