Swelling below the clavicle and axillary lymphadenopathy?
Hello, Doctor.
I have noticed a lump approximately 2.5 cm in diameter under my left clavicle over the past two days.
After another day, I found that the lymph nodes in my left armpit are also swollen, about 2.5 cm in size, and there is a longer, approximately 0.5 cm lump above my left clavicle.
All of these areas are painful to the touch.
Before noticing these symptoms, I used a beauty device called REFA CRATE on my clavicle and armpit areas.
I'm unsure if this could be the cause of the swelling, as I performed the same action on the right side without any swelling.
I only used the device for one day on the left side.
Additionally, I have been staying up late for a long time, usually going to bed around 1 AM.
I have been trying to sleep around 11 PM for the past two days, but the swelling has not subsided.
Could you please advise which specialty I should consult? Thank you.

The swelling you are experiencing under your collarbone and in your armpit, along with the associated pain, raises several important considerations. The presence of enlarged lymph nodes, particularly in the supraclavicular and axillary regions, can indicate a variety of underlying conditions, ranging from benign to more serious issues.
Firstly, lymph nodes are part of the body's immune system and can become enlarged in response to infection, inflammation, or malignancy. The fact that you have noticed swelling in multiple areas, along with pain, suggests that your body may be reacting to something. Given your history of using a beauty device on the affected areas, it is possible that localized irritation or inflammation could have contributed to the swelling. However, the unilateral nature of your symptoms (only on the left side) and the presence of multiple swollen lymph nodes warrant further investigation.
Your recent lifestyle changes, such as staying up late and experiencing fatigue, can also impact your immune system, making you more susceptible to infections. However, the persistence of the swelling over two days without improvement is concerning and should not be ignored.
In terms of medical evaluation, it is advisable to consult with a healthcare provider who specializes in internal medicine or an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist. These specialists can perform a thorough examination, including a physical assessment of the swollen areas, and may recommend imaging studies such as an ultrasound or CT scan to further evaluate the lymph nodes and surrounding tissues. Blood tests may also be necessary to check for signs of infection or other systemic issues.
If the swelling is due to an infection, treatment may involve antibiotics or other supportive measures. If there is a concern for malignancy, further diagnostic procedures, such as a biopsy, may be indicated to determine the nature of the lymph node enlargement.
It is important to monitor any additional symptoms you may experience, such as fever, night sweats, unexplained weight loss, or persistent fatigue, as these can provide valuable information to your healthcare provider regarding the underlying cause of your symptoms.
In summary, while the swelling and pain you are experiencing could potentially be related to localized irritation from the beauty device or other benign causes, the persistence and nature of your symptoms necessitate a thorough evaluation by a medical professional. Early diagnosis and appropriate management are crucial in addressing any underlying health issues effectively.
