Brown discharge issue?

Hello Doctor, a few days before my period on July 1, I had sexual intercourse.
A couple of days after my period ended, I started noticing brown discharge, sometimes with a stringy appearance, which has continued until now, although sometimes it is absent.
When I wipe after urinating, there is only a faint brown tint, and my urine color is normal without any pain or itching.
My period arrived on July 20, which is a week earlier than usual; I usually have a very regular cycle.
This time, there was no pain, whereas I typically experience cramps during my periods.
The flow was also very light, not resembling a normal menstrual period.
I visited a small clinic in early August and saw a gynecologist.
The doctor prescribed medication, stating that taking it would cause my period to return in two to three days and advised me to consider it a new menstrual cycle.
However, I have not taken the medication yet.
The doctor also performed a pregnancy test, which was negative.
I am concerned about whether I might have any issues, which is why I am hesitant to take the medication.
Should I see a urologist? Thank you.

Based on a comprehensive assessment, it appears that the menstrual irregularities are likely due to anovulation.
It is recommended to seek treatment at a hospital, and once a new menstrual cycle begins, consideration can be given to adjusting the menstrual regulation again.

Understanding brown discharge can be a source of concern for many individuals, especially when it deviates from the norm of what one typically experiences during their menstrual cycle. In your case, the brown discharge you are experiencing after a recent menstrual cycle and sexual activity can be attributed to several factors, and it is essential to understand when to seek medical advice.

Firstly, brown discharge often indicates old blood that is taking longer to exit the body. It can occur at various times during the menstrual cycle, including just before or after a period. In your situation, since you mentioned having sexual intercourse a few days before your period and then experiencing brown discharge after your period ended, it is possible that this discharge is simply remnants of menstrual blood that is being expelled from your body.

However, there are other considerations to keep in mind. The fact that your menstrual cycle arrived earlier than usual and was lighter than normal could indicate hormonal fluctuations. Stress, changes in weight, and even changes in physical activity can all impact your menstrual cycle and lead to irregularities. Additionally, if you have recently started or stopped any form of birth control, this could also affect your cycle.

You mentioned that you have already consulted a gynecologist who performed a pregnancy test that came back negative. This is a crucial step, as it rules out pregnancy as a cause of the brown discharge. The doctor also prescribed medication to induce a new menstrual cycle, which you have yet to take. It is important to follow your healthcare provider's recommendations, as they are tailored to your specific situation.

If the brown discharge continues, or if you begin to experience additional symptoms such as pain, itching, or a foul odor, it would be advisable to seek further medical evaluation. These symptoms could indicate an infection or other underlying issues that may require treatment. Additionally, if you have concerns about your urinary health, such as changes in urination or discomfort, consulting a urologist could be beneficial.

In summary, while brown discharge can be a normal occurrence, especially following a menstrual cycle, it is essential to monitor your symptoms. If you experience any concerning changes or if the discharge persists, do not hesitate to seek further medical advice. It is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health. If you feel uncertain about taking the prescribed medication, consider discussing your concerns with your gynecologist, who can provide reassurance and guidance tailored to your situation.
