What is the date of conception?

Hello Doctor, I would like to ask about my last menstrual period, which started on April 8.
I took a pregnancy test at the obstetrics and gynecology department on May 13 and it showed that I was over five weeks pregnant.
My previous six menstrual cycles were 25, 25, 25, 25, 25, and 30 days, with the last one being 30 days.
In April, I had sexual intercourse on the following dates: April 16 (first time with a condom, second time without, half an hour apart), April 17 (without a condom), April 22 (without a condom), April 23 (without a condom), April 24 (without a condom), and April 27 (with a condom).
I would like to know when my conception date might be, considering my due date is January 14.
Thank you.

Lu Lu, 30~39 year old female. Ask Date: 2016/09/12

More Info

To determine the conception date and due date for your pregnancy, we can use the information you've provided regarding your menstrual cycle and the dates of intercourse.
Your last menstrual period (LMP) started on April 8. Generally, ovulation occurs about 14 days after the first day of your last period in a typical 28-day cycle. However, since your cycle lengths vary (25 to 30 days), we need to adjust accordingly. Given your cycle lengths, ovulation likely occurred around April 22 to April 24, which is consistent with the timing of your sexual encounters.

You mentioned having unprotected intercourse on several occasions, specifically on April 22, 23, and 24. Since sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to five days, it's possible that conception could have occurred from intercourse on any of those days, particularly if you ovulated shortly after.

Based on your last menstrual period of April 8 and assuming a typical gestation period of about 40 weeks, your estimated due date would be around January 14. This aligns with the information you provided regarding your due date.

To summarize:
- Last Menstrual Period (LMP): April 8
- Estimated Ovulation: Likely between April 22 and April 24
- Possible Conception Dates: April 22, 23, or 24
- Estimated Due Date: January 14
It's important to note that these calculations are estimates. The actual date of conception can vary based on individual factors, and ultrasounds can provide more accurate dating as your pregnancy progresses. If you have any concerns or need further clarification, I recommend discussing this with your healthcare provider, who can offer personalized guidance and support throughout your pregnancy.
Additionally, maintaining regular prenatal check-ups is essential for monitoring the health of both you and your baby. Your healthcare provider can also assist you with any questions regarding your pregnancy, including nutrition, exercise, and any potential complications. Congratulations on your pregnancy, and I wish you a healthy journey ahead!
