Masturbation issues?

Hello, doctor.
I am 22 years old.
I have been masturbating almost every day since I was in junior high school.
My scrotum appears smaller than others, and my testicles are not as large as my classmates'.
When I go to hot springs, I notice that other men seem to have larger packages, while mine looks smaller.
Is this related to frequent masturbation? Also, I previously went to a massage parlor where I was fully nude and lying face down with a towel covering me.
Halfway through the massage, I became erect and then ejaculated.
Is this considered premature ejaculation?

Zhicheng, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2016/09/19

Dr. Sun Hongshun reply Urology

Hello, the size of the testicles and the length and girth of the penis vary from person to person, as long as they are sufficient when erect.
You mentioned having a smaller scrotum and experiencing ejaculation after massage; I wonder if you have any sexual experience? This can also be related to hormone secretion.
I recommend discussing this with a urologist.

Frequent masturbation is a common behavior among young men, and it can raise various questions about its impact on male health, particularly concerning physical development and sexual function. At 22 years old, it is important to understand that masturbation is a normal and healthy sexual activity. However, concerns about its frequency and its potential effects on the body, including the size of the scrotum and testicles, are worth discussing.

Firstly, it is essential to clarify that the size of the scrotum and testicles can vary significantly among individuals and is influenced by various factors, including genetics, hormonal levels, and overall health. Frequent masturbation is not directly linked to a decrease in testicular size or scrotal appearance. The perception that one's anatomy is smaller compared to peers can often stem from psychological factors, including body image issues, rather than physiological changes caused by masturbation.

Regarding the concern about early ejaculation, it is important to differentiate between normal sexual responses and conditions that may require attention. Experiencing an erection and ejaculation during a massage, especially if it is unexpected, does not necessarily indicate early ejaculation. Early ejaculation is typically defined as ejaculation that occurs with minimal sexual stimulation before, during, or shortly after penetration, leading to distress or interpersonal difficulty. If the ejaculation during the massage was not accompanied by distress or a pattern of premature ejaculation in sexual encounters, it may not be classified as such.

Masturbation itself does not cause physical harm or long-term negative effects on sexual health. In fact, it can have several benefits, including stress relief, improved mood, and a better understanding of one’s sexual preferences and responses. However, if the frequency of masturbation is interfering with daily life, relationships, or responsibilities, it may be worth considering moderation.

Additionally, there are no established medical guidelines that suggest a specific limit on the frequency of masturbation. Each individual’s sexual health is unique, and what is normal for one person may not be for another. If you find that your habits are causing you concern or affecting your self-esteem, it may be beneficial to speak with a healthcare professional or a therapist who specializes in sexual health. They can provide personalized advice and support.

In summary, while frequent masturbation is a normal behavior, it is unlikely to be the cause of perceived differences in anatomy or to directly lead to issues like early ejaculation. If you have ongoing concerns about your sexual health or body image, seeking professional guidance can help you address these issues constructively. Remember, sexual health is an important aspect of overall well-being, and open discussions about it can lead to better understanding and management of any concerns you may have.
