Menstruation has not arrived yet?

Hello, doctor.
I apologize for the interruption.
I would like to ask you a question: My last menstrual period started on August 11, and as of September 11, I still have not gotten my period.
I do not have any breast tenderness.
I had sexual intercourse on September 7 and September 9, using a condom.
However, on September 7, my partner mentioned that the condom slipped, but he pulled it back.
On September 9, we used a condom again, but he ejaculated externally on my chest, and then I took a shower afterward.
I am very worried about the possibility of exposure.
I took a pregnancy test on September 19, which came back negative, but I have noticed that my breasts seem slightly larger, although they are not tender, and I have some white discharge.
Should I go to a gynecologist for an examination, or should I wait a little longer? Thank you.

Bi You, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2016/09/20

Hello, Miss Biyou: If your vaginal discharge is more than usual, it is best to consult a doctor.
Additionally, consider taking a pregnancy test to check for pregnancy and determine if menstrual induction is necessary.

More Info

It sounds like you are experiencing a concerning situation with your menstrual cycle and potential pregnancy. Based on the information you've provided, it is important to address your missed period and the associated symptoms.
Firstly, a missed period can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal imbalances, stress, changes in weight, or underlying medical conditions. Given that your last menstrual period was on August 11 and you have not had a period since, it is understandable that you are feeling anxious. The fact that you had sexual intercourse on September 7 and 9, with one instance where the condom may have slipped, adds to your concern about potential pregnancy.

You mentioned that you took a pregnancy test on September 19, which returned negative. While home pregnancy tests are generally reliable, they can sometimes yield false negatives, especially if taken too early. If your period does not arrive soon, it may be wise to take another test, especially if you are experiencing any unusual symptoms or changes in your body, such as breast tenderness or changes in discharge.

In terms of your breast changes, it is not uncommon for women to experience slight changes in breast size or tenderness due to hormonal fluctuations, even if they are not pregnant. However, if you notice significant changes or if the symptoms persist, it would be advisable to consult with a healthcare professional.

Regarding your question about when to see a gynecologist, it is generally recommended to seek medical advice if you have missed your period for more than a month, especially if you have had unprotected intercourse or if you are experiencing other concerning symptoms. A gynecologist can perform a thorough evaluation, which may include a physical exam, blood tests, and possibly an ultrasound, to determine the cause of your missed period and any other symptoms you may be experiencing.

Additionally, if you are feeling significant anxiety or stress about the situation, it is also important to address your mental health. Stress can have a profound impact on your menstrual cycle, and finding ways to manage stress through relaxation techniques, exercise, or counseling may be beneficial.

In summary, while a missed period can be caused by various factors, given your recent sexual activity and the negative pregnancy test, it is advisable to monitor your symptoms closely. If your period does not arrive soon or if you have any additional concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to a gynecologist for further evaluation and peace of mind. Your health and well-being are paramount, and seeking professional advice is always a prudent step when you have concerns about your reproductive health.
