Menstruation is delayed?
Hello! I would like to ask about my girlfriend's menstrual cycle.
Her last period started on September 2, and she was expected to start again on September 29.
However, as of October 8, her period has still not arrived.
She has mentioned experiencing some white discharge and occasional abdominal pain, but after checking, her period has not come.
Could this be a sign of pregnancy, or could it be due to recent work stress and poor sleep causing her delayed menstruation?

Hello, can pregnancy be confirmed with a pregnancy test? It's always best to take preventive measures beforehand; one should not rely on the safe period.
If your period is more than a week late, it is advisable to see a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

Delayed menstruation can be a source of concern for many women, and it often raises questions about whether pregnancy is the cause or if other factors, such as stress, are at play. In your girlfriend's case, with her last menstrual period on September 2 and a missed period expected around September 29, it is understandable that you are seeking clarity on the situation.
First, let's address the possibility of pregnancy. If your girlfriend has had unprotected sexual intercourse, even if it was not during her ovulation period, there is always a chance of pregnancy. The most reliable way to determine if she is pregnant is through a home pregnancy test, which detects the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in urine. For the most accurate results, it is recommended to take the test at least one week after the missed period. If she has already taken a test and it showed negative, it is possible that she is not pregnant, especially if the test was taken correctly and at the right time.
Now, regarding the impact of stress on the menstrual cycle, it is well-documented that stress can significantly affect hormonal balance and, consequently, menstrual regularity. Stress triggers the release of cortisol, a hormone that can interfere with the normal functioning of the hypothalamus, which regulates the menstrual cycle. Factors such as work pressure, lack of sleep, and lifestyle changes can contribute to this stress response. In some cases, stress can lead to delayed menstruation or even amenorrhea (the absence of menstruation).
In your girlfriend's situation, the combination of work-related stress and poor sleep could very well be contributing to her delayed period. It is not uncommon for women who experience significant stress to notice changes in their menstrual cycle, including delays or irregularities. Additionally, the presence of white discharge and abdominal discomfort could be related to hormonal fluctuations rather than pregnancy.
If your girlfriend's period does not arrive soon, it may be beneficial for her to consult a healthcare provider. A medical professional can perform a thorough evaluation, including a physical examination and possibly blood tests, to rule out pregnancy and assess any underlying issues that may be affecting her menstrual cycle. They can also provide guidance on managing stress and improving sleep quality, which may help restore her menstrual regularity.
In summary, while pregnancy is a possibility that should be ruled out with a reliable test, stress and lifestyle factors are likely contributors to your girlfriend's delayed menstruation. Encouraging her to seek medical advice and support can help address both her menstrual concerns and the stressors she is facing.
