Burning sensation in the penis?
I often feel a burning sensation in my penis, and it feels moist.
I also experience frequent urination, needing to urinate over ten times a day.
Every 30 to 40 minutes, I feel the urge to urinate, and each time I urinate, the volume is almost 250cc.
Sometimes, when sitting, my penis feels very moist and warm, and urine occasionally leaks out.
However, when running or exercising, I do not experience leakage.
I also wake up at night to urinate about one or two times.
After masturbation or staying up late, the frequency can increase to 5 or 6 times, but the volume of urine at night is not much.
I have been experiencing this for about six months.
Could you please tell me what might be wrong? Am I experiencing urinary incontinence, or could there be some inflammation? Does urinary incontinence cause a burning sensation in the penis?

Dr. Li Xinyi reply Urology
Each time the urine output is almost 250cc, which seems acceptable.
However, after ejaculation or staying up late, it can increase to 5 or 6 times.
The nighttime urine output is not much.
This could be due to poor sleep, but when sitting, there is a feeling of damp heat in the penis, and sometimes urine may leak out.
It is advisable to see a urologist for an examination and to discuss these symptoms with a physician.

More Info
The symptoms you are experiencing, including penile burning sensation, frequent urination, and a feeling of wetness, can be indicative of several underlying conditions. It is essential to consider various factors that may contribute to these symptoms, including infections, inflammation, or other medical conditions.
1. Possible Causes:
- Urinary Tract Infection (UTI): A UTI can cause burning sensations during urination, increased frequency of urination, and sometimes even a feeling of urgency. It is more common in women but can affect men as well.
- Prostatitis: Inflammation of the prostate gland can lead to similar symptoms, including burning sensations, frequent urination, and discomfort in the genital area. This condition can be acute or chronic and often requires medical evaluation.
- Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Certain STIs, such as gonorrhea or chlamydia, can cause burning sensations and urinary frequency. Testing for STIs is crucial if there is any possibility of exposure.
- Irritation or Inflammation: Irritation from soaps, lotions, or other products can lead to a burning sensation. Additionally, conditions like balanitis (inflammation of the glans) can cause similar symptoms.
- Diabetes: Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to increased urination and may also cause sensations of burning due to nerve damage or infections.
2. Understanding Urinary Incontinence:
- Urinary incontinence refers to the involuntary loss of urine. While you mentioned that urine sometimes "runs out," it is essential to differentiate between true incontinence and the urgency or frequency associated with other conditions. The burning sensation you experience is not typically associated with urinary incontinence but rather with irritation or infection.
3. Nighttime Urination (Nocturia):
- Waking up at night to urinate (nocturia) can be caused by several factors, including fluid intake before bed, prostate issues, or other medical conditions. It is not uncommon for men to experience nocturia, especially as they age.
4. Recommendations:
- Consult a Healthcare Provider: Given that these symptoms have persisted for six months, it is crucial to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough evaluation, including a physical examination and possibly urine tests, to determine the underlying cause.
- Avoid Irritants: In the meantime, avoid any potential irritants, such as scented soaps or lotions, and consider wearing breathable cotton underwear to reduce moisture and irritation.
- Hydration: Ensure you are adequately hydrated, as concentrated urine can exacerbate burning sensations.
- Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of your symptoms, including any changes in urination patterns, the presence of any discharge, or additional discomfort, as this information will be helpful for your healthcare provider.
In summary, the combination of burning sensation, frequent urination, and wetness could indicate an underlying infection or inflammation that requires medical evaluation. It is essential to address these symptoms promptly to prevent potential complications and to receive appropriate treatment.
