Delayed menstruation?

Hello, my girlfriend had her period on September 29.
We were intimate on September 27 and October 1, both times using a condom.
However, during the October 1 encounter, the condom was inside out initially, but we turned it around and used it again, and there was no ejaculation at that time.
My girlfriend finished her period on October 3, but from October 23 to 25, she developed a rash on her arm and took antihistamines for skin allergies.
As of today, October 30, she still hasn't gotten her period.
She mentioned feeling swelling in her chest and breasts.
Could the medication affect her menstrual cycle, or is there a possibility of pregnancy? Thank you, doctor!

Hello, the chances of pregnancy are low, but it is always best to take preventive measures beforehand.
Do not rely on the safe period.
If your period is more than a week late, it is advisable to see a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

Delayed menstruation can be a source of anxiety for many women, especially when there is a possibility of pregnancy involved. In your girlfriend's case, there are several factors to consider that could potentially explain her delayed menstruation.

First, let's address the possibility of pregnancy. You mentioned that your girlfriend had her last menstrual period on September 29 and that there were two instances of sexual intercourse on September 27 and October 1, both of which involved the use of condoms. While condoms are generally effective at preventing pregnancy, there is always a small risk of failure, especially if the condom was turned inside out and then reused. Although you indicated that there was no ejaculation during intercourse, pre-ejaculate fluid can still contain sperm, which could lead to pregnancy. Given that her period is now delayed, it would be prudent for her to take a home pregnancy test to determine if she is pregnant. These tests are typically quite accurate, especially if taken after a missed period.

Secondly, medication can also play a significant role in menstrual irregularities. You mentioned that your girlfriend took medication for a skin rash. Certain medications, particularly those that affect hormonal balance, can lead to changes in the menstrual cycle. Antihistamines, which are commonly used for allergic reactions, can sometimes cause side effects that include menstrual irregularities. If the medication she took has hormonal effects, it could potentially delay her period.
Additionally, stress and lifestyle factors can also contribute to delayed menstruation. If your girlfriend has been experiencing stress related to her health or any other life circumstances, this could impact her menstrual cycle. Stress can lead to hormonal imbalances that affect ovulation and menstruation.

The symptoms she is experiencing, such as breast tenderness and swelling, can be associated with both premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and early pregnancy. Breast tenderness is a common symptom that can occur due to hormonal fluctuations in the menstrual cycle or as an early sign of pregnancy.
In summary, there are several potential explanations for your girlfriend's delayed menstruation, including the possibility of pregnancy, the effects of medication, and lifestyle factors such as stress. The best course of action would be for her to take a home pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. If the test is negative and her period does not arrive soon, it would be advisable for her to consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation. They can assess her symptoms, review any medications she has taken, and provide guidance on how to manage her menstrual health moving forward.
It's important to remember that menstrual irregularities are common and can happen for a variety of reasons. Open communication with her healthcare provider will help ensure that any underlying issues are addressed and that she receives the appropriate care.
