Swelling of the foreskin after masturbation?

Hello Doctor, today I woke up and masturbated twice.
After ejaculating once, I immediately went for a second time, which lasted quite a while.
To achieve pleasure, I exerted extra effort.
Just now, after urinating (about 3 hours later), I noticed that my entire foreskin appeared swollen, almost like edema.
The left side of the foreskin is particularly swollen, resembling a mosquito bite, but there is no pain or discomfort.
When I pushed the glans out to take a look, the shaft of the penis seems normal; it's just the foreskin that looks unusually swollen.
I've never experienced this before.
What could this be? Is it serious? I'm feeling quite anxious.
Thank you, Doctor.

Hello: If the foreskin retracts after ejaculation and quickly returns to its original position, just monitor to see if it happens again.
However, if it takes several hours to return, please consult a urologist to check for any issues with the foreskin.
Thank you for your inquiry.

Swollen foreskin after masturbation can be a concerning experience, but it is often not a serious issue. The swelling you are experiencing could be due to several factors related to the activity you engaged in. Here are some potential causes and considerations:
1. Trauma or Irritation: Engaging in masturbation, especially with excessive force or frequency, can lead to irritation or minor trauma to the foreskin. This can cause localized swelling, which may resemble edema (fluid retention). The fact that you mentioned using extra force to achieve pleasure could have contributed to this irritation.

2. Increased Blood Flow: During sexual arousal and activity, blood flow to the genital area increases significantly. This can lead to temporary swelling of the foreskin and surrounding tissues. If the swelling is not accompanied by pain, redness, or other symptoms, it is likely a temporary condition.

3. Allergic Reaction or Sensitivity: Sometimes, the use of lubricants, soaps, or other products during masturbation can cause an allergic reaction or sensitivity, leading to swelling. If you used any new products, consider whether they might be the cause.

4. Infection: Although you mentioned that there is no pain or discomfort, it is still important to be aware that infections can cause swelling. Conditions such as balanitis (inflammation of the glans) or posthitis (inflammation of the foreskin) can lead to swelling. If you notice any additional symptoms such as redness, discharge, or pain, it would be wise to consult a healthcare provider.

5. Phimosis: If you have a tight foreskin that does not retract easily, this could lead to swelling after vigorous activity. Phimosis can cause discomfort and swelling, and it may require medical evaluation if it becomes a recurring issue.

What to Do Next:
- Observation: Since you mentioned that the swelling is not accompanied by pain or discomfort, it may resolve on its own. Monitor the situation for a day or two. If the swelling decreases, it is likely a temporary issue.

- Avoid Irritation: Refrain from any further sexual activity until the swelling subsides. This will help prevent further irritation.

- Cold Compress: Applying a cold compress to the area can help reduce swelling and provide relief.

- Consult a Healthcare Provider: If the swelling persists for more than a few days, worsens, or if you develop additional symptoms (such as pain, redness, or discharge), it is important to seek medical advice. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination and determine if any treatment is necessary.

Conclusion:
In summary, while swollen foreskin after masturbation can be alarming, it is often a benign condition resulting from irritation or increased blood flow. However, it is essential to monitor your symptoms and consult a healthcare professional if you have any concerns or if the situation does not improve. Taking care of your sexual health is important, and being proactive about any changes you notice is a good practice.
