There is discomfort approximately 10 cm to the right of the navel?

Hello Doctor: The situation is as follows: about 10 cm to the right of my navel, I occasionally experience a strange sensation.
It can be described as a mild pain, but it also feels like a pulsing sensation, similar to a heartbeat, and sometimes I feel like there are small cramps, as if something is inside.
Overall, it doesn't make me extremely uncomfortable, but this sensation tends to occur when I am slouching; however, it feels somewhat better when I stand up straight.
This is not a continuous issue, but I do experience these sensations several times a day.
Is it possible that this situation is related to my frequent visits to the swimming pool, where I use a strong water jet to massage my lower back and sides, even my shoulders? Thank you for your response, Doctor!

The discomfort you are experiencing about 10 cm to the right of your belly button could be attributed to several potential causes, and it's important to consider a variety of factors that could be contributing to your symptoms. Based on your description, the sensations you are feeling—ranging from mild pain to a pulsing or cramping feeling—could be related to several anatomical structures in that area, including the intestines, muscles, or even the abdominal wall.

One possibility is that you may be experiencing a form of abdominal muscle strain or irritation. This can occur if you have been engaging in activities that put stress on your abdominal muscles, such as swimming with vigorous movements or maintaining poor posture (like slouching). When you slouch, the alignment of your spine and pelvis can lead to muscle imbalances and tension, which might manifest as discomfort in the abdominal region.
Another potential cause could be related to gastrointestinal issues. The area you are describing is close to the location of the appendix, as well as parts of the small intestine. Conditions such as appendicitis, intestinal gas, or even irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) could lead to sensations of discomfort or cramping in that region. If the discomfort is accompanied by other symptoms such as changes in bowel habits, nausea, or fever, it would be prudent to seek medical attention.

Additionally, the sensation of a pulsing feeling could be related to the aorta, which is the main artery that runs down the abdomen. If the sensation is rhythmic and correlates with your heartbeat, it may simply be the normal pulsation of the blood vessels in that area. However, if this sensation is new or has changed in character, it is worth discussing with a healthcare provider.

Given that you mentioned the discomfort is less pronounced when you maintain good posture, it may also be beneficial to explore exercises that strengthen your core muscles, improve your posture, and enhance flexibility. Engaging in activities that promote good posture can alleviate some of the strain on your abdominal muscles and potentially reduce discomfort.

In conclusion, while your symptoms may not be severe, they warrant attention, especially if they persist or worsen. It is advisable to consult with a healthcare professional who can perform a thorough examination, possibly including imaging studies or lab tests, to rule out any serious conditions. They can also provide guidance on appropriate exercises or lifestyle modifications to help alleviate your symptoms. Remember, it is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to health concerns.
