Menstrual issues, abnormal changes in menstrual bleeding, irregular menstruation?
Last Sunday, my boyfriend had unprotected sex with me while he was drunk.
I had just finished my period two days prior.
He pulled out and ejaculated in my mouth between 12:30 and 1:05.
Because I was worried about pregnancy, I took emergency contraception.
However, today I suddenly started bleeding.
The blood was initially a large amount of coffee-colored discharge, which then turned into a little bit of pink, and later deep red and thick, but the amount is not much and there is no unusual odor.
Am I pregnant? Is this a sign of irregular menstruation?

Hello, emergency contraceptive pills can sometimes cause irregular menstruation, but the chances of pregnancy are low.
It is best to use preventive measures beforehand.
If you still experience discomfort, it is advisable to consult a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

Irregular menstrual changes can be concerning, especially after an episode of unprotected sex. In your case, it seems that you experienced a recent sexual encounter where your boyfriend did not use protection, followed by taking emergency contraception (the "morning-after pill"). This combination of factors can certainly lead to changes in your menstrual cycle.
Firstly, it's important to understand how emergency contraception works. The primary mechanism of action for most emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs) is to delay or inhibit ovulation. If taken before ovulation, they can prevent the release of an egg, thereby reducing the chance of fertilization. However, if ovulation has already occurred, ECPs may not be effective. In your case, since you took the pill after the encounter, it is possible that it influenced your menstrual cycle.
The changes you are experiencing in your menstrual flow—starting with a heavy coffee-colored discharge, transitioning to a lighter pink, and then to a deep red and thick consistency—could be attributed to the hormonal fluctuations caused by the emergency contraceptive. It is not uncommon for ECPs to cause irregular bleeding or spotting, which can be mistaken for a period. This is often referred to as "withdrawal bleeding," which can occur as a result of the hormonal changes induced by the pill.
Regarding your concern about pregnancy, the fact that you experienced bleeding after taking the emergency contraceptive is a good sign, as it typically indicates that the pill has worked to prevent pregnancy. However, it is essential to note that bleeding patterns can vary widely among individuals, and some may experience changes in their cycle after taking ECPs.
If you are still worried about the possibility of pregnancy, consider taking a home pregnancy test. These tests are most accurate when taken at least one week after your expected period. If your period is significantly delayed or if you have any other concerning symptoms, such as severe abdominal pain or unusual discharge, it is advisable to consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation.
In summary, the irregular bleeding you are experiencing is likely a result of the emergency contraceptive pill and may not necessarily indicate pregnancy. However, if you have any doubts or if your symptoms persist, seeking medical advice is always a prudent step. Remember, maintaining open communication with your healthcare provider about your sexual health and any concerns you may have is crucial for your overall well-being.
