Penile erection will immediately subside upon vaginal penetration?

Hello doctor, last week I was unable to achieve an erection during intercourse with my wife.
After resting for a day and trying again, the situation remained the same.
I took 5 mg of Cialis for a total of 10 days; my erectile function has been inconsistent.
However, when I am able to achieve an erection, I can maintain it through manual stimulation.
Yet, as soon as I attempt penetration or even just move my hips back and forth without penetration, my penis becomes flaccid immediately.
Could you please advise if I am experiencing an organic erectile dysfunction? Thank you.

Hello: Sometimes, certain factors (such as stress) can lead to temporary phenomena.
If you maintain normal sleep, avoid alcohol and spicy foods, and walk for half an hour every day, but still see no improvement, you should seek medical attention.
Additionally, if you have high blood pressure, it is important to monitor your blood pressure.
Thank you for your inquiry.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common issue that many men face at some point in their lives. Understanding the causes and potential solutions is crucial for addressing this condition effectively. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing a combination of psychological and possibly physiological factors contributing to your erectile difficulties.

Causes of Erectile Dysfunction
1. Psychological Factors: Anxiety, stress, and performance pressure can significantly impact erectile function. The fear of not being able to perform can create a cycle of anxiety that further exacerbates the problem. In your case, the fact that you can achieve an erection through manual stimulation but lose it during intercourse suggests that psychological factors may be at play.

2. Physiological Factors: While you mentioned that you have been taking a medication (likely referring to a PDE5 inhibitor like Cialis), it’s important to consider other physiological factors. Conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hormonal imbalances, or vascular issues can lead to erectile dysfunction. If you have a history of any of these conditions, they could be contributing to your symptoms.

3. Medication Side Effects: Some medications can interfere with erectile function. If you are taking other medications alongside Cialis, it’s worth discussing with your healthcare provider to see if any of them could be contributing to your ED.

4. Lifestyle Factors: Factors such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, poor diet, and lack of exercise can also play a role in erectile dysfunction. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can improve overall sexual health.

Solutions for Erectile Dysfunction
1. Consult a Healthcare Provider: Since you are experiencing ongoing issues, it’s essential to consult with a urologist or a healthcare provider specializing in sexual health. They can perform a thorough evaluation, including blood tests to check hormone levels and assess vascular health.

2. Psychosexual Therapy: If psychological factors are significant, consider seeking therapy. A mental health professional can help address anxiety, stress, or relationship issues that may be affecting your sexual performance.

3. Medication Adjustment: If you find that Cialis is not providing consistent results, discuss this with your doctor. They may adjust the dosage or suggest trying a different medication.

4. Lifestyle Modifications: Focus on improving your overall health. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol can enhance erectile function. Additionally, managing stress through mindfulness or relaxation techniques can also be beneficial.

5. Communication with Your Partner: Open communication with your partner about your experiences and feelings can help reduce anxiety and improve intimacy. Understanding and support from your partner can alleviate some of the pressure you may feel during sexual encounters.

6. Regular Follow-ups: Keep track of your symptoms and follow up with your healthcare provider regularly. This will help in monitoring your condition and making necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.

Conclusion
Erectile dysfunction can stem from a variety of causes, both psychological and physiological. It’s important to approach the issue holistically, considering both mental and physical health. By consulting with a healthcare provider, making lifestyle changes, and possibly engaging in therapy, you can work towards improving your erectile function. Remember, you are not alone in this, and many men experience similar challenges. Seeking help is a positive step towards regaining confidence and improving your sexual health.
