Small particles in the coronal sulcus?
Hello doctor, I currently have no sexual experience, but I recently noticed many small bumps on my corona that have persisted for six months.
They are not painful or itchy.
Could this be a sexually transmitted infection, or is it just a simple allergy? By the way, I have atopic dermatitis.

Hello: It is likely related to sebaceous gland issues.
If there are localized changes, it could indicate another problem.
If there has been any unsafe sexual behavior, it is advisable to seek medical evaluation.
Thank you for your inquiry.

Pearly penile papules (PPP) are small, benign growths that typically appear around the corona of the penis. They are often described as small, dome-shaped, and white or skin-colored papules. It's important to note that PPP is a normal anatomical variation and is not associated with any sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or other health concerns.
Given that you have not engaged in any sexual activity and have been experiencing these symptoms for about six months without pain or itching, it is highly unlikely that what you are observing is related to an STI. PPP is common in young men and can be mistaken for other conditions, but they are harmless and do not require treatment unless they cause psychological distress.
Your mention of having atopic dermatitis (eczema) is relevant, as individuals with a history of skin conditions may be more prone to noticing changes in their skin. However, PPP is not caused by allergies or skin conditions like eczema. Instead, they are simply a variation in skin anatomy.
If you are concerned about the appearance of these papules, it is always a good idea to consult a healthcare professional, such as a dermatologist or urologist, who can provide a definitive diagnosis. They can confirm that these are indeed pearly penile papules and not another condition, such as genital warts or other skin lesions that may require treatment.
In summary, pearly penile papules are a common and benign condition that does not indicate any underlying health issues or STIs. They are not caused by allergies or skin conditions and typically do not require any treatment. If you have any further concerns or if the appearance of the papules changes, seeking medical advice is always a prudent course of action.
