Bowel movement issues

Hello, in the past few months, I have often experienced cramping pain after eating, followed by diarrhea, usually needing to go to the bathroom about twice to feel comfortable, and this occurs several times a day.
However, I do not have cramping pain every day.
My bowel movements in the morning are consistently loose and shapeless.
Could you tell me what might be the issue? My appetite is good, and I have not experienced any changes in weight.
A year ago, I had a colonoscopy due to rectal bleeding, which was diagnosed as hemorrhoids, and there were no other issues found.
Should I seek a medical evaluation?

Hello: Please be mindful of your diet and avoid foods that may promote gastrointestinal motility, such as tea and coffee.
Additionally, some over-the-counter medications or probiotics may also have this effect.
If you still cannot find the cause, you may consider consulting a gastroenterologist.

Frequent diarrhea and abdominal pain can be distressing symptoms that significantly impact your quality of life. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing cramping abdominal pain followed by diarrhea, with soft stools that lack shape. While you have a good appetite and no significant weight changes, the recurrent nature of your symptoms warrants further investigation.

There are several potential causes for your symptoms. One possibility is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), a common gastrointestinal disorder characterized by abdominal pain and altered bowel habits, including diarrhea and constipation. IBS can be triggered by various factors, including stress, certain foods, and hormonal changes. Given that your symptoms occur after eating, it may suggest a food-related trigger, which is common in IBS.

Another consideration is food intolerances or allergies. Lactose intolerance, for example, can lead to abdominal pain and diarrhea after consuming dairy products. Similarly, gluten intolerance or celiac disease can cause similar symptoms. Keeping a food diary to track what you eat and your symptoms may help identify any correlations.

Gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the stomach and intestines, could also be a factor, especially if you have experienced any recent infections or changes in your environment. However, since your symptoms have persisted for several months, this is less likely to be the sole cause.

Additionally, inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, could present with similar symptoms. These conditions often involve chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract and can lead to more severe complications if left untreated. Although your previous colonoscopy indicated no significant issues, it may be worth discussing the possibility of repeating the examination if your symptoms persist or worsen.

Given your history of rectal bleeding and the previous colonoscopy, it is crucial to monitor your symptoms closely. While the initial findings were benign, any new or worsening symptoms should prompt further evaluation. It is advisable to consult with a gastroenterologist, who can perform a thorough assessment, including a review of your medical history, physical examination, and possibly additional tests such as stool studies or imaging, to rule out any underlying conditions.

In summary, while your symptoms may be indicative of a functional gastrointestinal disorder like IBS, food intolerances, or even IBD, a comprehensive evaluation by a healthcare professional is essential to determine the exact cause and appropriate management. Keeping track of your symptoms, dietary habits, and any potential triggers will be beneficial in your discussions with your doctor. Early intervention can help alleviate your symptoms and improve your overall well-being.
