Could this lead to pregnancy?

On May 6th, I had intimate contact with my girlfriend, who was in her ovulation period at the beginning of the month.
Due to excitement, I released a clear fluid and accidentally touched her vulva.
Later, I put on a condom, but I initially put it on inside out.
After removing it and reapplying it, I wiped the side that might have come into contact with the clear fluid with a tissue.
I would like to know what the chances of pregnancy are in this situation.

Mr. Chen, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2017/05/08

Hello, the chances of pregnancy are low, but it is best to take preventive measures at all times and not to rely on the calendar method.
If your period is more than a week late, it is advisable to see a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

When it comes to the question of whether you can get pregnant from intimate contact, particularly in the context you've described, it's important to understand the mechanics of conception and the factors that influence pregnancy risk.

Firstly, pregnancy occurs when sperm fertilizes an egg. This typically happens during ovulation, which is when an egg is released from the ovary. If your girlfriend was in her ovulation period, the chances of pregnancy could be higher, especially if sperm is introduced into the vaginal canal.

In your situation, you mentioned that you had intimate contact with your girlfriend, and there was some secretion of a clear fluid. This fluid could be pre-ejaculatory fluid (pre-cum), which can contain sperm. Although the concentration of sperm in pre-ejaculatory fluid is generally lower than in ejaculate, it is still possible for it to contain enough sperm to result in pregnancy, especially if it comes into contact with the vaginal area.

You also noted that you initially put on the condom incorrectly and then removed it to put it on correctly. This is a critical point because if there was any sperm present on the outside of the condom during the initial contact, there is a risk that it could have been transferred to your girlfriend when you put the condom on correctly. Even if you wiped the condom with a tissue, it’s difficult to ensure that all sperm would be removed, and any residual sperm could potentially lead to pregnancy.

Now, regarding the risk of pregnancy from the scenario you described, it is not possible to quantify the exact likelihood without more specific details, but there are several factors to consider:
1. Timing of Ovulation: If your girlfriend was indeed in her ovulation period, the chances of pregnancy are higher. Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to five days, so if ovulation occurs shortly after your intimate contact, there is a possibility of fertilization.

2. Presence of Sperm: If the clear fluid you mentioned contained sperm and came into contact with her external genitalia, there is a risk of pregnancy, albeit lower than direct ejaculation into the vagina.

3. Condom Use: Proper use of condoms significantly reduces the risk of pregnancy. However, if the condom was not applied correctly initially, this could compromise its effectiveness.

4. Anxiety and Stress: It's also worth noting that anxiety about potential pregnancy can sometimes lead to physical symptoms that mimic early pregnancy signs, such as breast tenderness or changes in menstrual cycles.
In summary, while the risk of pregnancy from the scenario you described is not negligible, it is also not guaranteed. If you are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, it may be wise to consider emergency contraception if the intimate contact occurred within the last few days and you are both open to that option. Additionally, if your girlfriend misses her period or experiences any unusual symptoms, it would be prudent for her to take a pregnancy test or consult with a healthcare provider for further guidance.
Moving forward, if you and your girlfriend are sexually active, discussing and implementing reliable contraceptive methods can help alleviate concerns about unintended pregnancy and allow for a more relaxed and enjoyable intimate relationship.
