Is there a direct relationship between proteinuria and masturbation?

Last October, due to work-related reasons, I needed a health check-up! After the check-up, it was found that I had mild proteinuria and low high-density lipoprotein levels, so I was advised to follow up.
Therefore, on May 23 of this year, I went to a nearby hospital for a follow-up! This time, the test revealed proteinuria...
but my kidney function was normal! My doctor mentioned that it might be due to some vigorous exercise I did before the test.
This is actually true! Before the test, I had been pushing my motorcycle and hurriedly climbing stairs, which involved some physical exertion! However, by the time of the test, it had been about half an hour...
I wonder if this is related? Currently, the protein levels measured are 30-70 (+).
My doctor advised me to get tested again in July! Additionally, I have a habit of masturbating about once every 1-2 days.
Doctor, could my masturbation affect the presence of proteinuria? I am a bit worried...
Could this be the reason my body is having issues? I usually do not smoke or drink; this is probably my only bad habit in life...

Proteinuria is unrelated to masturbation; ongoing follow-up in nephrology outpatient clinic is necessary.

The concern regarding the relationship between proteinuria and masturbation is a common one, and it's important to clarify the facts based on medical knowledge. Proteinuria, which is the presence of excess protein in the urine, can be indicative of various underlying health issues, particularly related to kidney function. However, it is crucial to understand that lifestyle factors, including physical activity and sexual activity, can influence protein levels in urine.

Firstly, your doctor’s suggestion that the proteinuria may be related to physical exertion is valid. Engaging in vigorous activities, such as lifting heavy objects or intense exercise, can temporarily increase protein levels in urine. This phenomenon is known as "exercise-induced proteinuria" and is generally considered benign, especially if kidney function tests are normal. The fact that your kidney function is normal is reassuring and suggests that there may not be a significant underlying kidney disease.

Regarding masturbation, there is no direct scientific evidence linking it to the development of proteinuria. Masturbation is a normal sexual activity and is not known to cause kidney damage or proteinuria. While sexual activity can lead to temporary changes in various bodily functions, including hormone levels and blood flow, it does not typically result in significant changes in urine composition. Therefore, it is unlikely that your masturbation habits are contributing to the protein levels detected in your urine.

It is also worth noting that transient proteinuria can occur for various reasons, including dehydration, fever, stress, and even certain medications. If you have been experiencing stress or changes in your routine, these factors could also contribute to the protein levels observed in your urine tests.

Given your situation, it is advisable to follow your doctor's recommendation to repeat the urine test in July. This follow-up will help determine if the proteinuria persists or if it was a temporary condition. If the protein levels remain elevated or if you develop any additional symptoms, further evaluation may be warranted to rule out any underlying conditions, such as glomerulonephritis or diabetic nephropathy, especially if you have risk factors for kidney disease.

In summary, while it is understandable to be concerned about the implications of proteinuria and its potential causes, masturbation is not likely to be a contributing factor. Focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including proper hydration, a balanced diet, and regular check-ups with your healthcare provider. If you have any further concerns or experience new symptoms, do not hesitate to discuss them with your doctor for personalized advice and management.
