Peeling and itching of the nose?

Hello, I currently have allergic rhinitis.
I have undergone two surgeries with an otolaryngologist, specifically carbon dioxide laser surgery.
After the first surgery, I initially did not notice any changes, but later I felt that my allergy symptoms had improved.
The second surgery was performed because I started experiencing allergy symptoms again around February.
Previously, I occasionally had issues with nasal peeling and itching, but recently I have been experiencing frequent sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion.
After the surgeries, these symptoms have been less frequent.
I would like to ask: 1.
Is nasal peeling and itching related to my allergy? 2.
Are there any foods or nutritional supplements that can help improve nasal peeling and itching? 3.
I often masturbate, and I have noticed that when I intentionally refrain from doing so, my nasal condition seems to improve slightly.
Is there a connection between the two? Thank you.

Dear user,
Thank you for your message.
Nasal allergies can cause itching in the nose.
Supplementing with probiotics can help support the immune system and improve allergy symptoms, but it is advisable to choose probiotics that can be stored at room temperature.
While refrigerated probiotics are beneficial, the cold environment can also be a trigger for nasal allergies.
Currently, there is no research literature reporting a correlation between masturbation and nasal allergies.
Wishing you health and peace!

It sounds like you're experiencing a complex set of symptoms related to allergic rhinitis and possibly other underlying issues. Let's break down your questions and concerns regarding nasal peeling, itching, and allergies.

1. Nasal Peeling and Itching: Yes, nasal peeling and itching can indeed be symptoms of allergic rhinitis. Allergies can cause inflammation in the nasal passages, leading to dryness and irritation. This inflammation can result in the skin inside the nose becoming flaky and itchy. Additionally, frequent sneezing and nasal congestion can exacerbate these symptoms. It's important to note that environmental factors such as dry air, allergens (like pollen, dust mites, or pet dander), and even certain foods can trigger or worsen these symptoms.

2. Nutritional Support: While there is no specific food that will cure allergic rhinitis, certain nutrients can support your immune system and overall nasal health. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish like salmon and flaxseeds, have anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce nasal inflammation. Foods rich in vitamin C (like citrus fruits, strawberries, and bell peppers) can support immune function and may help reduce the severity of allergic reactions. Staying well-hydrated is also crucial, as it helps maintain mucosal moisture and can alleviate dryness. Additionally, consider incorporating foods high in antioxidants, such as leafy greens and berries, to help combat inflammation.

3. Connection Between Masturbation and Nasal Symptoms: The relationship between sexual activity, including masturbation, and nasal symptoms is not well-studied. However, some individuals report experiencing changes in their body, including nasal congestion or other symptoms, related to hormonal fluctuations or changes in blood flow. It’s possible that during periods of sexual arousal, your body may react differently, potentially affecting your nasal passages. If you notice a consistent pattern where your symptoms improve or worsen with changes in sexual activity, it may be worth discussing with a healthcare provider.

Additional Considerations:
- Environmental Control: Since you have a history of allergic rhinitis, it’s essential to minimize exposure to known allergens. This includes using air purifiers, keeping windows closed during high pollen seasons, and regularly cleaning your living space to reduce dust and pet dander.

- Medications: Over-the-counter antihistamines can help alleviate symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including itching and sneezing. Nasal corticosteroids are also effective in reducing inflammation and can help with nasal congestion. If you haven’t already, consider discussing these options with your healthcare provider.

- Follow-Up Care: Since you’ve had surgeries in the past, it’s crucial to maintain regular follow-ups with your ENT specialist. They can monitor your condition and suggest further treatments if necessary. If your symptoms persist or worsen, further evaluation may be needed to rule out other conditions, such as chronic rhinosinusitis or nasal polyps.

In conclusion, while nasal peeling and itching can be linked to allergic rhinitis, managing your environment, diet, and possibly medication can help alleviate these symptoms. If you notice a significant correlation between your symptoms and other activities, such as masturbation, it may be beneficial to keep a symptom diary and discuss your observations with a healthcare professional. This holistic approach can help you find relief and improve your quality of life.
