Will I still get pregnant this way?

I had intimate physical contact with my girlfriend on March 12, but there was no sexual intercourse.
However, our lower bodies touched each other, and there was no ejaculation, but I am concerned that pre-ejaculate fluid might have come into contact (since we were under the covers).
After that, I touched my girlfriend's genital area with my hand.
My girlfriend's menstrual cycle has not been very regular; I heard that it started to normalize in January and February of this year.
Theoretically, her period was due on March 18, but it didn't arrive until March 24 (I took a pregnancy test that morning, which showed one line, and her period came that evening).
Her next period started on April 27 (again, I took a test that morning, which also showed one line, and her period came that evening).
Then, on May 14, she had some unexpected bleeding.
She saw a doctor on May 15, and the doctor performed an ultrasound and said it might be ovulation bleeding.
The doctor also confirmed a negative pregnancy test.
This month, her period started on May 31.
Her periods usually last about five days, and she describes the flow as relatively heavy and dark red in color.
Given this information, should I assume that she is not pregnant? I have seen some posts online that make me worry that the doctor might have misdiagnosed or that it could be a false period or something similar.
I am still feeling anxious about this, so I would appreciate your clarification.
Thank you.

The question of whether one can get pregnant without intercourse is a common concern, especially among young couples exploring their intimacy. To address your situation, it’s important to understand the mechanics of conception and the risks involved in intimate contact without penetration.

Pregnancy typically occurs when sperm fertilizes an egg. This usually happens through vaginal intercourse, but it is theoretically possible to conceive without traditional intercourse if sperm comes into contact with the vaginal area. This can happen through various means, including the transfer of pre-ejaculatory fluid (pre-cum) or sperm from fingers that have been in contact with semen. However, the likelihood of pregnancy occurring in such scenarios is relatively low, especially if there was no ejaculation involved.

In your case, you mentioned that there was no ejaculation during your intimate contact with your girlfriend, which significantly reduces the risk of pregnancy. Pre-ejaculatory fluid can contain sperm, but the quantity is usually much lower than that found in ejaculate. Additionally, if you were covered by a blanket and there was no direct transfer of fluid, the chances of sperm reaching the vaginal area are even slimmer.

Your girlfriend's menstrual cycle is also an important factor to consider. You noted that her period was late, arriving on March 24 instead of the expected date of March 18. Late periods can occur for various reasons, including stress, hormonal fluctuations, or changes in routine. The fact that she tested negative for pregnancy on the morning of March 24 and then got her period later that day suggests that she was not pregnant at that time.
The subsequent menstrual cycles you described, including the one on April 27 and the unusual bleeding on May 14, could be attributed to normal variations in her cycle or potential ovulation bleeding, as indicated by her doctor. It’s not uncommon for women to experience irregularities in their menstrual cycles, especially if they are under stress or experiencing other life changes.

Regarding your concerns about "false menstruation" or misdiagnosis, it’s important to trust the medical advice given by healthcare professionals. If your girlfriend had a negative pregnancy test and her doctor confirmed that the bleeding was likely ovulation-related, it is reasonable to conclude that she is not pregnant. However, if either of you continues to have concerns or if her menstrual cycle remains irregular, it would be wise to consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation.

In summary, while it is theoretically possible to conceive without intercourse, the circumstances you described—lack of ejaculation, the timing of her menstrual cycle, and negative pregnancy tests—strongly suggest that your girlfriend is not pregnant. If either of you has ongoing concerns about reproductive health or contraception, consider discussing these topics with a healthcare provider who can offer personalized advice and support.
