Red spots?
Doctor, I was diagnosed with genital warts two weeks ago, and the doctor at the clinic performed electrosurgery to remove them.
However, recently I have been noticing red spots on my foreskin and glans, along with a sensation of some broken skin.
Sometimes when I apply medication, it bleeds.
The doctor prescribed me with Antiseptic ointment and advised me to apply it after soaking in saline solution every morning and evening, but I feel like it’s not effective, and the spots seem to be spreading.
I would like to ask the doctor what these spots are and how I should treat them.

Hello: It is likely an infection.
Keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting underwear, and make sure to return for a follow-up appointment.
Wishing you good health.

When dealing with red spots on the penis, especially after a diagnosis of condyloma (genital warts) and subsequent treatment, it's important to consider several potential causes and treatment options. The appearance of red spots and a sensation of broken skin can be concerning, and it’s crucial to understand what might be happening.
Firstly, the red spots you are experiencing could be a result of several factors. After the treatment of condyloma, the skin in the affected area may be sensitive and healing, which can lead to irritation and the formation of red spots. This is particularly true if there was any form of cauterization or burning during the treatment, as these methods can cause localized inflammation and sensitivity.
Another possibility is that the red spots could be indicative of a secondary infection or irritation. If the skin is broken or raw, it can become susceptible to bacterial or fungal infections, which can manifest as red spots or lesions. Additionally, if you are using topical medications, such as the prescribed Antiseptic Cream, it’s essential to ensure that the product is suitable for your skin type and that you are not experiencing an allergic reaction or irritation from it.
In terms of treatment, it’s crucial to follow your doctor’s instructions regarding the use of the antiseptic cream. However, if you are not seeing any improvement or if the condition seems to be worsening, it is advisable to return to your healthcare provider for a follow-up examination. They may need to reassess the situation, possibly perform additional tests, or consider alternative treatments.
Here are some steps you can take in the meantime:
1. Maintain Hygiene: Ensure that you are keeping the area clean. Use mild, unscented soap and warm water to wash the area gently. After washing, pat the area dry with a clean towel.
2. Avoid Irritants: Avoid using any harsh soaps, lotions, or other products that may irritate the skin. Also, refrain from sexual activity until the condition has been resolved, as this can exacerbate irritation and potentially spread any infection.
3. Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of any changes in the appearance of the red spots, such as increased size, pain, or discharge. If you notice any of these changes, seek medical attention promptly.
4. Consider a Second Opinion: If your symptoms persist despite following your doctor's advice, consider consulting another healthcare professional. They may provide a different perspective or treatment options that could be more effective.
5. Discuss Treatment Options: If the red spots are indeed related to irritation or a secondary infection, your doctor may prescribe a different topical treatment or oral medication to address the issue.
In summary, while the red spots on your penis could be a result of the healing process after condyloma treatment, they could also indicate irritation or infection. It’s essential to maintain good hygiene, avoid irritants, and monitor your symptoms closely. If there is no improvement or if the condition worsens, do not hesitate to seek further medical advice. Your health and comfort are paramount, and addressing these symptoms with a healthcare provider will help ensure proper care and recovery.
