There is crusting on the nipple, and there is a hard lump inside?

I am a middle school boy, but I feel that there is something unusual with my nipples.
I used to feel a hard lump in my right nipple, but after a few weeks, the lump moved to the left side.
I usually surf, but after spending a long time in the water recently (note: I wear a rash guard), my nipples started to hurt from lying on the surfboard for too long.
They also hurt when I touch them with water while showering.
Recently, I noticed scabbing on them.
I tried applying hydrogen peroxide, but it doesn't seem to help.
Is it possible that I have breast cancer?

● Given your age, the likelihood of breast cancer is extremely low.
Please visit a pediatrician first.
● The lump inside the nipple is likely just a gland, possibly caused by surfing injuries.
Wishing your mother good health.

It's understandable to be concerned about changes in your body, especially during the teenage years when many physical changes occur. The symptoms you're describing—hard lumps under the nipple, pain, and scabbing—can be alarming, but they are not necessarily indicative of breast cancer, especially in teenage boys.

During puberty, boys experience hormonal changes that can lead to temporary breast tissue enlargement, a condition known as gynecomastia. This is quite common and usually resolves on its own. The hard lumps you feel could be related to this condition, as hormonal fluctuations can cause the breast tissue to become more prominent or sensitive.
The pain you experience, especially after prolonged pressure from activities like surfing, could also contribute to irritation or inflammation of the nipple area. The scabbing you mentioned might be a result of friction or irritation from your surf gear or from the water itself, especially if you have been in the ocean for extended periods. It's important to ensure that your surf gear fits properly to minimize irritation.

Using hydrogen peroxide on the scab may not be the best approach, as it can be harsh on the skin and may delay healing. Instead, consider keeping the area clean and dry, and avoid further irritation. If the scabbing persists or if you notice any changes such as increased pain, swelling, or discharge, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional for a proper evaluation.

Breast cancer in males is rare, particularly in teenagers. The risk factors for male breast cancer include age, family history, genetic mutations, and certain medical conditions, none of which typically apply to young boys. However, if you have a family history of breast cancer or other concerns, it’s always best to discuss these with a doctor.

In summary, while the symptoms you're experiencing can be concerning, they are more likely related to normal developmental changes or irritation rather than breast cancer. However, if you continue to have pain, notice changes, or have any other concerns, please seek medical advice. A healthcare professional can provide a thorough examination and reassurance, as well as appropriate treatment if necessary. Remember, it's always better to be safe and get checked out if you're unsure about any changes in your body.
