Medication abortion miscarriage

On November 14, I started experiencing bleeding due to a miscarriage.
I returned for a follow-up appointment around late November and confirmed that all tissue had been expelled.
On November 27, I noticed that there was still bright red blood when I wiped.
During my follow-up appointment, the doctor prescribed medication to stop the bleeding and advised that I could start taking supplements like sesame oil chicken, which I have begun to consume.
However, on November 30, the bleeding continued, still bright red and resembling mucus with strands.
Occasionally, there is a small amount of blood, but it's not much.
I would like to ask the doctor why I am still bleeding and why the medication isn't effective.
The ultrasound results indicated that everything was fine.
Could this be related to the sesame oil I am consuming? What recommendations does the doctor have? I have also stopped drinking the herbal soup.

Post-miscarriage bleeding can be a concerning issue for many women, and it’s important to understand the potential causes and remedies associated with this condition. From your description, it seems you experienced a miscarriage on November 14, and despite medical evaluations confirming that the tissue has cleared, you are still experiencing bright red bleeding. This can understandably cause anxiety and confusion.

Firstly, it’s essential to recognize that some degree of bleeding can be normal after a miscarriage. The body needs time to heal, and hormonal changes can lead to irregular bleeding patterns. However, persistent bright red bleeding, especially if it resembles a menstrual flow, may indicate that there could be residual tissue or other underlying issues that need to be addressed.

Possible Causes of Continued Bleeding Post-Miscarriage:
1. Incomplete Miscarriage: Even if an ultrasound shows that the uterus is clear, there can sometimes be small remnants of tissue that can cause ongoing bleeding. This is often the most common reason for prolonged bleeding after a miscarriage.

2. Hormonal Imbalances: After a miscarriage, the body undergoes significant hormonal changes. If the hormones are not returning to their pre-pregnancy levels, it can lead to irregular bleeding.

3. Infection: In some cases, an infection can develop in the uterus after a miscarriage, which can cause bleeding and other symptoms such as fever or foul-smelling discharge.

4. Uterine Atony: This condition occurs when the uterus does not contract effectively after miscarriage, leading to prolonged bleeding.

5. Other Gynecological Issues: Conditions such as fibroids, polyps, or other abnormalities can also contribute to abnormal bleeding.

Remedies and Recommendations:
1. Follow-Up with Your Healthcare Provider: Since you have already had follow-up appointments, it’s crucial to continue communicating with your healthcare provider about your symptoms. If the bleeding persists or worsens, further evaluation may be necessary, including repeat ultrasounds or blood tests to check hormone levels.

2. Medications: If your doctor has prescribed medications to help with bleeding, it’s important to take them as directed. If you feel that the medications are not effective, discuss this with your doctor. They may need to adjust your treatment plan.

3. Rest and Nutrition: After a miscarriage, your body needs time to recover. Ensure you are getting adequate rest and nutrition. Foods rich in iron can help replenish your body if you have lost blood.
4. Avoid Certain Foods: While traditional remedies like sesame oil chicken may be comforting, it’s essential to ensure that your diet is balanced and does not include foods that could potentially irritate your system.
5. Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of your bleeding patterns, including the color, consistency, and amount. Note any additional symptoms such as pain, fever, or unusual discharge, and report these to your healthcare provider.

6. Emotional Support: Miscarriage can be an emotionally taxing experience. Consider seeking support from friends, family, or professional counseling to help you cope with the emotional aftermath.

In conclusion, while some bleeding after a miscarriage can be normal, persistent bright red bleeding warrants further investigation. It’s essential to maintain open communication with your healthcare provider, follow their recommendations, and take care of your physical and emotional health during this recovery period. If you have any concerns or if your symptoms change, do not hesitate to seek medical attention.
