Can I get pregnant?

Hello, I would like to ask about my menstrual cycle.
I had my period on November 2nd and then again on November 28th, which seems to be a normal 28-day cycle.
I usually experience brown discharge three days before my period.
Is this normal? From December 22nd to 24th, I had some friction through my underwear, and during those three days, I also had brown discharge.
However, on December 25th, the brown discharge stopped, and my period has not come yet, even until today, January 2nd.
Could this indicate pregnancy? After those three days, I had very little discharge, and only recently have I noticed a slight indication that my period might be coming.
Additionally, from December 22nd to 24th, I experienced itching and pain in my nipples.

Meiling, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2018/01/02

It sounds like you're experiencing some irregularities in your menstrual cycle and are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy. Let's break down your situation and address your questions.

Firstly, it’s important to understand that menstrual cycles can vary significantly among individuals and even from month to month for the same person. A typical cycle ranges from 21 to 35 days, with an average of about 28 days. The presence of brown discharge before your period is often normal and can be attributed to old blood leaving the body, which is common in many women.

In your case, you mentioned having a menstrual period on November 2 and then again on November 28, which does suggest a regular cycle. However, the subsequent changes you described, including the brown discharge and the absence of your period by January 2, could indicate a few possibilities, including pregnancy.

The brown discharge you experienced from December 22 to 24 could be implantation bleeding, which occurs when a fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. This can happen around the time your period is due, which might explain the timing. The itching and pain in your nipples could also be early signs of pregnancy, as hormonal changes can cause breast tenderness and sensitivity.

To determine if you are pregnant, the most reliable method is to take a home pregnancy test. These tests work by detecting the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine, which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. If you take a test and it’s positive, it’s a strong indication that you are pregnant. If it’s negative and you still don’t get your period, you may want to consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation.

If you are concerned about the irregularities in your cycle, it’s also a good idea to speak with a healthcare professional. They can provide guidance on what might be causing these changes and whether any further testing is necessary. Conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hormonal imbalances, or stress can affect menstrual cycles and may need to be addressed.

In summary, while the symptoms you are experiencing could suggest pregnancy, the best course of action is to take a pregnancy test and consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice. They can help you understand your cycle better and address any concerns you may have about your reproductive health. Remember, it’s always better to seek professional guidance when it comes to your health and well-being.
