Regarding sexual dysfunction?

Hello doctor, I am currently a freshman in high school.
I started masturbating quite early (around the fourth or fifth grade), and now I am experiencing some concerns, specifically symptoms of [excessive masturbation].
I began masturbating until around the second year of junior high… I didn’t know that frequent masturbation could be harmful to my body.
After entering the first year of junior high, there were times when I might have [masturbated once a day for one or two weeks].
However, by the third year, it has reduced to [two to three times every two weeks].
Currently, my symptoms include [a slight curvature of my penis during erection, a reduction in the time from masturbation to ejaculation to about 1-2 minutes, and it seems like there hasn’t been much growth (the erect size is about 13 cm, but when not erect, it appears quite small)].
Doctor, what should I do???? Does abstaining really help?

Understanding sexual dysfunction, especially in teenagers, is crucial for developing healthy habits and fostering a positive relationship with one's body and sexuality. It's important to recognize that sexual curiosity and exploration are normal parts of adolescent development. However, excessive behaviors, such as over-masturbation, can lead to concerns about sexual health and function.

From your description, it seems you've been engaging in masturbation for several years, and now you're experiencing some distressing symptoms. These include a slight curvature of the penis during erection, a shortened duration from arousal to ejaculation, and concerns about the size of your penis. Let's address these issues one by one.

1. Masturbation and Sexual Health: Masturbation is a common and natural behavior among adolescents. It can serve as a way to explore one's body, relieve sexual tension, and learn about sexual pleasure. While there is no medical consensus on what constitutes "excessive" masturbation, it becomes a concern when it interferes with daily life, responsibilities, or relationships. If you find that your habits are causing you distress or impacting your mental health, it may be beneficial to reassess your behaviors.

2. Physical Symptoms: The slight curvature of your penis during erection is not uncommon and can occur for various reasons, including natural anatomical variations. If this curvature is significant or causes pain, it may be worth discussing with a healthcare professional. Regarding the duration of time from arousal to ejaculation, many factors can influence this, including anxiety, arousal levels, and physical stimulation. It's also normal for this duration to vary from person to person.

3. Penis Size and Growth: Concerns about penis size are prevalent among adolescents, but it's important to remember that penis size varies widely and is influenced by genetics. Most males continue to grow until their late teens, so there may still be time for natural growth. If you have concerns about your development, consider discussing them with a trusted healthcare provider.

4. The Concept of "NoFap" or Abstaining from Masturbation: The idea of abstaining from masturbation, often referred to as "NoFap," has gained popularity, particularly among young men. While some individuals report feeling more energetic or focused after a period of abstinence, scientific evidence on the long-term benefits of abstaining from masturbation is limited. It may help to focus on moderation rather than complete abstinence. Engaging in other activities, such as sports, hobbies, or socializing, can also help redirect your energy and reduce the urge to masturbate excessively.

5. Healthy Habits: Developing healthy habits is essential for overall well-being. This includes maintaining a balanced diet, exercising regularly, getting adequate sleep, and managing stress. Engaging in mindfulness practices or talking to someone about your feelings can also be beneficial. If you find that your feelings of guilt or anxiety about masturbation persist, consider speaking with a mental health professional who can provide support and guidance.

In conclusion, while masturbation is a normal part of sexual development, it's essential to be mindful of how it affects your life and well-being. If you're experiencing distressing symptoms or feelings, don't hesitate to seek help from a healthcare provider. They can offer personalized advice and reassurance, helping you navigate this complex aspect of growing up. Remember, you're not alone in these experiences, and seeking help is a sign of strength.
