Is this cauliflower?

Hello, I have been experiencing itching on the glans, and there are some red spots with a few rashes.
I applied a topical ointment, and afterward, a slightly raised bump appeared in the itchy area, which is neither painful nor itchy.
Could this be genital warts? I have not engaged in any sexual activities outside of using the toilet and coming into contact with toilet water.

Wei, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2018/03/29

Without a personal examination, it is impossible to make a judgment.

It sounds like you're experiencing some concerning symptoms related to your genital area, specifically on the glans (the head of the penis). The itching, redness, and the appearance of a raised lesion can indeed be alarming, and it's understandable to want to identify the cause.
Based on your description, there are a few potential conditions that could be at play. One possibility is a condition known as genital warts, which are caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). These warts can appear as small, raised bumps and may be itchy or uncomfortable. However, they are typically painless. It's important to note that genital warts can develop even in individuals who have not engaged in penetrative sexual activity, as HPV can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact.

Another possibility is a fungal or yeast infection, which can cause itching and redness, particularly if there is an imbalance in the normal flora of the genital area. This is more common in individuals who may have diabetes or who are taking antibiotics, which can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria and fungi.

Additionally, contact dermatitis could be a factor, especially if you've recently used any new products or medications on the area. Irritation from soaps, lotions, or even the material of underwear can lead to localized itching and redness.

Given that you mentioned applying a topical ointment (美康藥膏), it's crucial to consider whether this product could be causing irritation or an allergic reaction. Sometimes, over-the-counter treatments can exacerbate the problem rather than help it.

While you mentioned that the raised area is not painful or itchy, it's still essential to have it evaluated by a healthcare professional. A dermatologist or urologist can provide a proper diagnosis through a physical examination and possibly additional tests, such as a biopsy if necessary. They can also rule out other conditions, such as balanitis (inflammation of the glans), which can occur due to infections or irritants.

In conclusion, while it is possible that the symptoms you are experiencing could be related to genital warts, there are several other potential causes that should be considered. It is essential to seek medical advice to obtain an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Early intervention can help prevent any potential complications and provide peace of mind. Remember, it's always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health, especially with symptoms in such a sensitive area.
