Cauliflower (Condylomata Acuminata)

I discovered warts near the anal area and also near the vaginal opening at the end of January this year.
The warts near the anus were treated with electrosurgery at a hospital's colorectal department, while the ones in the vagina were treated with laser at a general gynecology clinic.
On May 12, I went for a gynecological check-up because I was concerned about a possible recurrence, and the doctor said everything looked normal and recommended applying medication for prevention.
I then purchased Fenofibrate.
On May 17, I noticed that my hemorrhoid had a tear, and when I looked in the mirror, there was a small white area that was painful.
Below the vaginal opening, I felt a small lump that was also painful, although I didn't notice it visually.
I don't feel anything when applying the medication, and I apply it an average of twice a day, sometimes three times.

Doctor, I have a few questions:
1.
Should I apply ointment to the torn area?
2.
Should I continue using Fenofibrate?
3.
Does the torn area indicate that it is a wart?

Hello: 1) You should seek medical attention for the broken skin; currently, using Betadine for cleaning is acceptable.
2) You may need to consult your physician for a prescription.
3) There are many possible causes for the broken skin, especially since you mentioned it's in the hemorrhoidal area; it could be due to abrasion or infection, and it is not necessarily warts.
Wishing you good health.

More Info

Cauliflower warts, medically known as genital warts, are caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). These warts can appear as small, flesh-colored or gray growths that may resemble cauliflower. They can occur in various locations, including the genital area, anus, and even the mouth or throat in some cases. Understanding the symptoms, treatment options, and care tips for managing cauliflower warts is essential for effective care and prevention of recurrence.

Symptoms of Cauliflower Warts
The primary symptom of cauliflower warts is the appearance of growths in the genital area. These growths can vary in size and may be raised or flat. Other symptoms may include:
- Itching or discomfort in the affected area.

- Pain during intercourse or when wiping after using the bathroom.

- Bleeding if the warts are irritated or scratched.

In your case, you mentioned experiencing pain and a small white area near your anal region, which could be concerning. It's essential to differentiate between cauliflower warts and other conditions, such as hemorrhoids or skin irritations.

Treatment Options
Treatment for cauliflower warts can vary based on the severity and location of the warts. Common treatment methods include:
1. Topical Treatments: Medications like imiquimod (Aldara) or podofilox (Condylox) can be applied directly to the warts. These treatments work by stimulating the immune system or destroying the wart tissue.

2. Cryotherapy: This involves freezing the warts with liquid nitrogen, causing them to fall off over time.

3. Electrosurgery: As you mentioned, this method uses electrical currents to burn off the warts.

4. Laser Treatment: This is often used for larger or more resistant warts.

5. Surgical Removal: In some cases, warts may need to be surgically excised.

In your situation, since you have already undergone electrosurgery and laser treatment, it is crucial to follow your healthcare provider's recommendations for post-treatment care.

Care Tips
1. Hygiene: Keep the affected area clean and dry. Avoid using harsh soaps or irritants that could exacerbate the condition.

2. Avoid Irritation: Be gentle when wiping after using the bathroom and avoid tight clothing that may cause friction.

3. Medication Use: Regarding your questions:
- Should you apply ointment to the broken skin? If the area is broken and painful, it may be beneficial to apply a soothing ointment, but consult your healthcare provider for specific recommendations.

- Should you continue using phenylephrine? If your doctor prescribed it for prevention or treatment, continue using it as directed unless advised otherwise by your healthcare provider.

- Is the broken skin indicative of cauliflower warts? The presence of broken skin does not necessarily mean it is cauliflower warts. It could be irritation or another condition. A follow-up with your healthcare provider is essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Conclusion
Managing cauliflower warts requires a comprehensive approach that includes treatment, preventive care, and regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider. Since you have undergone treatments and are experiencing new symptoms, it is vital to keep your doctor informed about any changes. They can provide tailored advice and adjust your treatment plan as necessary. Always prioritize your health and seek medical advice when in doubt about your symptoms or treatment options.
