A cold that lasts for a week without improvement?

I have had a cold for over a week now, starting with severe diarrhea, followed by a very sore throat, persistent coughing with phlegm, dizziness, and general discomfort.
It has significantly affected my daily life; I often feel dizzy and sometimes experience pain.
However, the clinic doctors mentioned that it is rare to see gastroenteritis and upper respiratory infections occurring simultaneously.
I have consulted three different doctors at the same clinic and have taken many medications, but there has been no improvement.
Here is the list of medications prescribed by the clinic; I'm unsure what to do next.
I don't think it's necessary to go to a major hospital just for a cold.

When experiencing persistent cold symptoms that last more than a week, especially when accompanied by gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea, it is essential to consider a few key factors before deciding whether to seek further medical help. Your symptoms, including a severe sore throat, coughing with phlegm, dizziness, and significant discomfort, indicate that your body is under stress and may be dealing with more than just a common cold.

Firstly, it is important to recognize that a combination of gastrointestinal infections and upper respiratory infections can occur, although they are not commonly seen together. The fact that you have consulted three different doctors at the same clinic and have been prescribed various medications without improvement is concerning. This suggests that your condition may not be responding to standard treatments, and it may require a more thorough investigation.

Here are some considerations for when to seek further medical help:
1. Duration of Symptoms: If your symptoms persist beyond 10 days without improvement, it is advisable to seek further evaluation. Prolonged symptoms can indicate a more serious underlying condition, such as a bacterial infection that may require different antibiotics or further diagnostic testing.

2. Severity of Symptoms: The presence of severe symptoms such as high fever, difficulty breathing, chest pain, or significant dizziness warrants immediate medical attention. These could be signs of complications such as pneumonia or other serious infections.

3. Response to Treatment: If you have been on multiple medications, including antibiotics like Augmentin and Zithromax, and there has been no improvement, it may indicate that the infection is resistant to the prescribed treatments or that the diagnosis may be incorrect. In such cases, a reevaluation by a specialist, such as an infectious disease doctor or an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist, may be necessary.

4. Underlying Health Conditions: If you have any pre-existing health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, or a weakened immune system, it is crucial to seek medical attention sooner rather than later. These conditions can complicate infections and lead to more severe outcomes.

5. Gastrointestinal Symptoms: The combination of gastrointestinal symptoms with respiratory symptoms can sometimes indicate a viral infection that affects multiple systems, such as the flu or COVID-19. If you experience dehydration, persistent vomiting, or bloody diarrhea, you should seek immediate medical care.

6. Mental Health Considerations: Persistent illness can take a toll on mental health. If you find yourself feeling increasingly anxious or depressed about your health, it may be beneficial to speak with a healthcare provider about your concerns.

In summary, while it may seem unnecessary to visit a larger hospital for a cold, your ongoing symptoms and lack of improvement suggest that further evaluation is warranted. It is better to err on the side of caution, especially if your quality of life is significantly affected. A more comprehensive assessment may include blood tests, imaging studies, or referrals to specialists who can provide a more targeted approach to your treatment. Remember, your health is paramount, and seeking help is a proactive step towards recovery.
