Can I get pregnant?

Hello, my girlfriend's menstrual period started on August 15, with a cycle of 35 days.
We had unprotected intercourse on August 26, and just before ejaculation, he pulled out.
Three days later, she started feeling dizzy, had abdominal pain, and felt more tired than usual.
Six days later, which coincided with her ovulation period, she no longer felt dizzy or had abdominal pain, but still felt sleepy.
Her body temperature fluctuated between the high 37s and low 36s.
Could this indicate pregnancy?

An, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2018/09/02

Hello, the questioner: There is a possibility of pregnancy even if ejaculation has not occurred during intercourse, as pre-ejaculatory fluid may contain sperm.
Additionally, early pregnancy does not always present specific symptoms, and subjective symptoms cannot be used to determine pregnancy.
It is recommended to take a pregnancy test if your period is more than a week late.
Thank you! Wishing you peace and health.

When considering the possibility of pregnancy, it is essential to understand the timing of intercourse in relation to the menstrual cycle, as well as the symptoms that may arise afterward. In your case, you mentioned that your girlfriend's last menstrual period started on August 15, and you had unprotected intercourse on August 26. Given that her cycle is approximately 35 days, ovulation would typically occur around day 21 of her cycle, which would be around September 4. This timing is crucial because the likelihood of conception is highest during the ovulation period.

The symptoms you described—dizziness, abdominal pain, and increased fatigue—can be associated with early pregnancy, but they can also be attributed to other factors such as hormonal changes, stress, or even anxiety about the possibility of being pregnant. It’s important to note that symptoms alone are not definitive indicators of pregnancy.
In the days following your intercourse, you experienced dizziness and abdominal discomfort, which can occur due to various reasons, including premenstrual syndrome (PMS) or other non-pregnancy-related issues. The fact that you did not experience these symptoms during the ovulation period could suggest that they are not directly related to pregnancy. Additionally, fluctuations in body temperature, such as the 37°C and 36°C readings you mentioned, can also occur due to normal physiological changes and do not necessarily indicate pregnancy.

If your girlfriend's menstrual cycle is regular and she does not experience a missed period, the likelihood of pregnancy decreases. However, if her period is late, it would be advisable for her to take a home pregnancy test for a more definitive answer. These tests are designed to detect the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), which is produced during pregnancy.

In summary, while the symptoms you mentioned could be indicative of pregnancy, they are not conclusive on their own. The timing of your intercourse in relation to her ovulation and menstrual cycle is critical in assessing the risk of pregnancy. If there is any uncertainty or if her period is delayed, taking a pregnancy test or consulting with a healthcare provider would be the best course of action. This will provide clarity and help address any concerns regarding her health and well-being.
It's also worth noting that if there are ongoing concerns about symptoms or if she experiences significant discomfort, it would be prudent to seek medical advice. A healthcare professional can provide a thorough evaluation and guidance tailored to her specific situation.
