The relationship between urethritis and ejaculation?
Hello Doctor: I am currently undergoing medication treatment for urethritis, and my condition has improved.
However, on the morning of November 5th, I experienced a nocturnal emission, which caused a sudden pain in my penis.
I quickly got up to wash myself.
Although the pain improved afterward, I still felt discomfort in my urethra.
When I woke up in the morning to use the restroom, I experienced some pain in the urethra, but it gradually subsided with more frequent urination.
However, I occasionally feel sensitivity and slight pain in the glans when walking due to friction.
I would like to ask if there is a relationship between ejaculation and the recurrence or worsening of urethritis.
About three weeks ago, I thought my urethritis had resolved and attempted to masturbate, but after ejaculation, I felt weak and feverish, and I discovered during a medical visit that the urethritis was still present.
Today’s nocturnal emission has me worried that my urethritis, which was improving, might worsen.
Additionally, the pain I felt after the nocturnal emission does not seem normal.
Could it be because I am still on medication and the urethritis has not completely healed? Thank you, Doctor!

Hello, I would like to know if you are continuing your medication treatment.
It is recommended that even if you are feeling better, you should continue to return for follow-up treatment and have a urine test during your visits.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Understanding the connection between urethritis and ejaculation is crucial for managing symptoms and ensuring a smooth recovery. Urethritis, which is an inflammation of the urethra, can be caused by infections, irritants, or other underlying conditions. When you are undergoing treatment for urethritis, it is essential to be aware of how sexual activity, including ejaculation, may affect your condition.
Firstly, it is important to note that ejaculation can sometimes exacerbate symptoms of urethritis. This is because the act of ejaculation involves contractions of the muscles in the pelvic region, which can lead to increased pressure and irritation in an already inflamed urethra. If you have recently experienced pain or discomfort during or after ejaculation, it may be a sign that your urethritis has not fully resolved. The pain you felt during the nocturnal emission (or "wet dream") could be attributed to the ongoing inflammation in your urethra, which may still be sensitive to stimulation.
Moreover, the symptoms you described—such as pain during urination and sensitivity in the glans (the head of the penis)—are common in cases of urethritis. It is not unusual for these symptoms to fluctuate, especially when you engage in activities that put stress on the urethra, such as sexual activity or even vigorous exercise. The fact that you experienced some relief after urinating suggests that the act of urination may help to flush out irritants or bacteria, providing temporary relief from discomfort.
Regarding your concern about whether ejaculation could lead to a recurrence or worsening of urethritis, it is essential to consider the timing and nature of your sexual activities. If you engaged in sexual activity shortly after you believed your urethritis had resolved, it is possible that the irritation from ejaculation could have contributed to a resurgence of symptoms. Additionally, if your urethritis was caused by an infection, sexual activity could potentially introduce new bacteria or irritants, complicating your recovery.
As for the feelings of weakness and heat you experienced after ejaculation, these symptoms could be related to your body's response to inflammation or infection. When the body is fighting an infection, it can lead to systemic symptoms such as fatigue or a feeling of malaise. If you are still on medication for urethritis, it is crucial to continue following your healthcare provider's recommendations and complete the full course of antibiotics or other prescribed treatments, even if you start to feel better.
In conclusion, while ejaculation may not directly cause urethritis, it can exacerbate symptoms or lead to discomfort if the condition is not fully resolved. It is advisable to avoid sexual activity, including masturbation, until you have fully recovered and received clearance from your healthcare provider. If you continue to experience pain, discomfort, or any new symptoms, it is essential to follow up with your doctor for further evaluation and management. They may recommend additional tests or a change in your treatment plan to ensure a complete recovery. Remember, taking care of your health and being mindful of your body's signals is vital during this healing process.
