Vision health supplements issues?

Recently, I noticed an increase in floaters and went for a regular eye examination.
The doctor said there were no issues with my retina and that it was due to eye fatigue.
He recommended a bottle of Neoaster, but I'm a bit unclear about when to use it.
Since the bottle contains 30 capsules and costs 1200, taking two capsules a day seems quite expensive.
Should this medication be taken long-term, or is it only necessary during periods of eye fatigue? If I want to save some money and only take one capsule a day, will that make a significant difference?
Additionally, I have read a lot about high myopia and exercise, but I still have questions.
Is it okay to jog with a prescription of -9.00 diopters? What about short bursts of running, like when I'm in a hurry to catch a bus or subway, or during baseball when running the bases? Could that lead to retinal detachment?

Hello, Neoaster contains lutein, DHA, and some vitamins.
A daily dosage of 30mg of lutein is sufficient; you should check your medication dosage, as taking more will not provide additional benefits.
Consistent daily intake helps maintain a certain concentration, which is beneficial for retinal health.
For myopia of 900 degrees, jogging should not be an issue; however, individuals with high myopia should have regular retinal examinations.
If there is thinning or holes, timely intervention is necessary.
If the retina is healthy, vigorous running will not cause retinal detachment.
Conversely, intense exercise does carry a certain risk of causing retinal issues.
In Taiwan, the ophthalmology department at Puzi Hospital is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
Online responses should only be used as a reference; it is essential to visit a medical facility if needed.
I hope to have the opportunity to serve you.
Gao Pilin.

When it comes to eye health supplements like Neoaster, it's important to understand their intended use and how they can fit into your overall vision care strategy. Neoaster is often recommended for individuals experiencing eye fatigue, particularly those who spend long hours in front of screens or have other visual stressors. The supplement typically contains a blend of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that are believed to support eye health and reduce fatigue.
Regarding your question about the duration of use, these supplements are generally designed for long-term consumption rather than just during periods of fatigue. This is because the nutrients they provide can help maintain overall eye health and potentially prevent further deterioration of vision over time. However, if you are experiencing significant eye fatigue, it may be beneficial to use them consistently during that period to help alleviate symptoms.

As for the dosage, while the recommended intake is two capsules per day, taking just one capsule may not provide the full benefits intended by the manufacturer. The effectiveness of the supplement can be dose-dependent, meaning that taking less than the recommended amount might not yield the desired results. If cost is a concern, you might consider discussing this with your healthcare provider, who can offer guidance on whether a lower dose could still be effective for your specific situation.

Now, regarding your concerns about high myopia (900 degrees) and physical activity, it's generally safe for individuals with high myopia to engage in activities like jogging or running. However, caution is warranted during high-impact activities or sports that involve sudden movements or potential trauma to the eyes. While the risk of retinal detachment is higher in individuals with high myopia, it is not solely caused by running or quick movements. Factors such as the degree of myopia, the health of the retina, and any previous eye conditions play a significant role in determining risk.

If you are concerned about activities like sprinting for public transport or playing sports, it’s advisable to consult with an eye care professional who can assess your specific risk factors. They may recommend certain precautions or even suggest a comprehensive eye exam to ensure that your retina is healthy and that you are not at an increased risk for complications.

In summary, while supplements like Neoaster can be beneficial for eye health, they are best used as part of a long-term strategy rather than a short-term fix. Always follow the recommended dosage for optimal results, and consult with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns about your eye health or the safety of physical activities given your level of myopia. Regular eye exams and maintaining good eye hygiene practices, such as taking breaks during prolonged screen time and protecting your eyes from UV light, are also crucial for preserving vision health.

Dr. Hu Yusheng reply Ophthalmology
Thimerosal is a preservative, and using it more than four times a day can harm the cornea. The best way to maintain eye health is to get sufficient sleep and to rest your eyes by closing them or looking into the distance for fifteen minutes every thirty to fifty minutes of use.
