Glans issues
I would like to ask the doctor, for the past two days, the right side of my glans has been itchy when touched, and it hurts if I apply too much pressure.
I don't want to lie on my stomach in bed, and there are no lumps present.
It seems that after I finished urinating and woke up, the pain gradually increased, similar to the symptoms mentioned above.
The pain is located inside the glans and the foreskin.
I kindly ask for your advice, thank you.

Dr. Sun Hongshun reply Urology
Hello, A-Dong: Based on your description, it seems like you are experiencing inflammation of the glans and foreskin after ejaculation.
I recommend that you clean the affected area with plain water (avoid using any cleaning products), dry it with a clean cloth, and keep it well-ventilated.
If there is no improvement, please feel free to visit our outpatient clinic for medication treatment.

More Info
Understanding glans sensitivity and the associated symptoms of pain and itching can be quite concerning, especially when it affects your daily life and comfort. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing localized discomfort on the right side of the glans (the head of the penis), which is exacerbated by pressure and possibly related to recent activities.
There are several potential causes for the symptoms you are experiencing:
1. Irritation or Inflammation: The glans can become irritated due to friction, excessive moisture, or contact with irritants such as soaps, lotions, or even laundry detergents. This irritation can lead to localized inflammation, resulting in itching and pain.
2. Infection: Conditions such as balanitis (inflammation of the glans) or posthitis (inflammation of the foreskin) can cause similar symptoms. These infections can be bacterial, fungal, or even viral. If there is any discharge, unusual odor, or if the area appears red or swollen, it may indicate an infection that requires medical attention.
3. Allergic Reaction: Allergies to certain materials, such as latex (from condoms) or personal care products, can lead to localized itching and discomfort. If you have recently changed any products or materials that come into contact with the genital area, this could be a contributing factor.
4. Dermatological Conditions: Skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis can also affect the genital area, leading to symptoms like itching and pain. These conditions may not always present with visible lesions but can still cause significant discomfort.
5. Nerve Sensitivity: Sometimes, increased sensitivity in the area can be due to nerve-related issues. This could be a result of previous trauma, surgery, or even prolonged pressure on the area.
Given that you mentioned the pain began after a specific activity ("嚕完管子"), it is possible that this activity may have contributed to the irritation or inflammation. It is essential to consider whether there was any unusual friction or pressure during that time.
Solutions and Recommendations:
1. Avoid Irritants: Try to identify and avoid any potential irritants. Use mild, unscented soaps and avoid products that may cause allergic reactions.
2. Maintain Hygiene: Keep the area clean and dry. Gently wash with warm water and avoid scrubbing the area harshly.
3. Cold Compress: Applying a cold compress to the area may help reduce inflammation and provide relief from itching and pain.
4. Over-the-Counter Treatments: If irritation is suspected, over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream may help reduce inflammation. However, avoid using it for extended periods without consulting a healthcare professional.
5. Consult a Healthcare Provider: If symptoms persist, worsen, or if you notice any additional symptoms (such as discharge, fever, or systemic symptoms), it is crucial to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination and may recommend tests to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms.
6. Avoid Sexual Activity: Until you have a better understanding of the cause of your symptoms, it may be wise to avoid sexual activity to prevent further irritation.
In conclusion, while your symptoms may be due to irritation or inflammation, it is essential to monitor them closely and consult a healthcare provider if they do not improve. Early intervention can help prevent complications and ensure appropriate treatment.
