There are small red spots and small bumps on the glans, and the foreskin is itchy?
Yesterday, I noticed some itching on my foreskin and upon inspection, I found a few small red spots on the glans (about 2 to 3 spots).
There are also a few small white bumps on the upper right side of the glans, which are smaller than the red spots, have an indistinct texture, and resemble acne but are not painful.
The itching of the foreskin has been persistent.
I have a habit of washing the glans with body wash, and I just found out online that this might not be advisable.
Could this be related to my symptoms? I would like to ask the doctor what these symptoms might indicate and if I need to seek medical attention.
Thank you very much, and I apologize for the trouble.

Hello: Changes in the skin are often due to inadequate cleanliness.
It is important to keep the area clean and dry, avoiding moisture.
If there has been any unprotected sexual activity within the past month, there is a possibility of a sexually transmitted infection (STI), and it is advisable to seek medical evaluation.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
Red spots and bumps on the glans (the head of the penis) can be concerning, especially when accompanied by itching or discomfort. Based on your description, it seems you have noticed a few small red spots on the glans, along with some tiny white bumps that resemble pimples. You also mentioned experiencing some itching and that you have a habit of washing the area with body wash, which may not be ideal for sensitive skin.
There are several potential causes for the symptoms you are experiencing:
1. Irritation or Allergic Reaction: The use of body wash or soap that is not specifically designed for sensitive areas can lead to irritation or an allergic reaction. The skin on the glans is delicate, and harsh chemicals can cause redness, itching, and discomfort.
2. Pearly Penile Papules: The small white bumps you described could be pearly penile papules, which are harmless and common. They are typically found around the corona of the glans and are not a cause for concern.
3. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles, which can occur in the genital area. It may present as small red bumps and can be itchy. This condition is often caused by irritation or infection.
4. Infections: Fungal infections, such as candidiasis, or sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can also cause red spots and itching. If the red spots are accompanied by other symptoms, such as discharge, pain, or a persistent rash, it may indicate an infection that requires medical evaluation.
5. Dermatitis: Contact dermatitis, resulting from exposure to irritants or allergens, can cause redness and itching. This could be due to soaps, lotions, or even laundry detergents that come into contact with the genital area.
Given that you have been experiencing itching and have noticed changes in the appearance of your glans, it is advisable to take the following steps:
- Avoid Irritants: Stop using body wash on the area and switch to a mild, fragrance-free soap specifically designed for sensitive skin.
- Keep the Area Clean and Dry: Gently wash the area with warm water and a mild soap, and ensure it is thoroughly dried afterward.
- Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on the red spots and bumps. If they persist, change in appearance, or if you develop additional symptoms (such as pain, discharge, or swelling), it is important to seek medical attention.
- Consult a Healthcare Provider: If the symptoms do not improve or worsen, it is best to consult a healthcare provider or a dermatologist. They can perform a physical examination and may conduct tests to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms.
In summary, while your symptoms may be benign and related to irritation or an allergic reaction, it is essential to monitor them closely. If there are any changes or if you have concerns, do not hesitate to seek professional medical advice. Early intervention can help address any potential issues and provide peace of mind.
