Discharge, nipple sensitivity with hardness and pain, abdominal discomfort and pain, feeling fatigued?

Hello, due to irregular menstruation, I haven't had my period for two months, but I've been experiencing premenstrual syndrome symptoms.
Over the past week, I've had an excessive amount of discharge, which is very clear and resembles mucus (sometimes more watery).
My nipples are also very firm and sensitive; they hurt even with slight touch.
Could this indicate that my period is about to start, or could it be a gynecological issue? Thank you!

Answer: It is likely that your period is about to start and not indicative of a gynecological disease.

Breast sensitivity, discharge, and abdominal pain can be concerning symptoms, especially when they are accompanied by irregular menstrual cycles. Based on your description, it seems you have been experiencing premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms for the past two months, along with a significant increase in vaginal discharge that is clear and mucus-like. Additionally, you mentioned that your nipples are very sensitive and painful to touch.
Firstly, it is important to understand that PMS is a common condition that affects many women in the days or weeks leading up to their menstrual period. Symptoms can vary widely among individuals and may include breast tenderness, mood swings, bloating, and changes in appetite. The hormonal fluctuations that occur during the menstrual cycle, particularly the rise and fall of estrogen and progesterone, can lead to these symptoms.
The fact that you have not had a menstrual period for two months could indicate a few possibilities. One common reason for missed periods is pregnancy, especially if you are sexually active. If there is a chance of pregnancy, it would be advisable to take a home pregnancy test or consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation.
Another possibility is that your body is experiencing anovulation, which is when the ovaries do not release an egg during a menstrual cycle. This can lead to irregular periods and is often influenced by factors such as stress, significant weight changes, hormonal imbalances, or underlying health conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
The increase in vaginal discharge you described, particularly if it is clear and resembles egg whites, can be a sign of ovulation. However, if the discharge is accompanied by an unusual odor, color, or if you experience itching or burning, this could indicate a vaginal infection, such as bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection, which would require medical attention.

Regarding the breast sensitivity and pain, this can be a normal part of PMS, but if the pain is severe or persistent, it may warrant further investigation. Conditions such as fibrocystic breast changes, which are characterized by lumpy or painful breasts, can also cause similar symptoms. Your previous ultrasound report indicated the presence of hypoechoic lumps, which could be benign conditions like fibroadenomas or fibrocystic changes. Regular monitoring and follow-up with your healthcare provider are essential to ensure that any changes in your breast tissue are appropriately evaluated.

In summary, while some of your symptoms may be related to hormonal changes and PMS, the absence of your period for two months, along with the changes in discharge and breast sensitivity, suggests that it would be prudent to consult with a healthcare provider. They can perform a thorough evaluation, including a physical examination, possible imaging studies, and laboratory tests, to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms and provide appropriate treatment options. It is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to changes in your menstrual cycle and reproductive health.
