White discharge
Hello, doctor.
For the past two days, I've noticed a slight secretion of a clear, whitish fluid from the urethral opening.
There is no pain, itching, or redness on the penis.
I do not have difficulty urinating or increased frequency of urination.
What could this symptom indicate? Will it resolve on its own? Could it be related to having unprotected intercourse with my girlfriend ten days ago and frequent masturbation recently? Thank you.

Hello: There is no pain, itching, or redness in the penis.
Urination is normal without any difficulty or frequency—therefore, there are no abnormalities.
The urethral opening may secrete a small amount of clear to slightly cloudy fluid—this is likely normal.
Engaging in unprotected intercourse and frequent masturbation recently—this is very likely.
It is recommended to observe for a while.
Wishing you good health.

Understanding clear white discharge from the urethra can be concerning, especially when it follows recent sexual activity. The symptoms you describe—slight transparent to milky discharge from the urethra without pain, itching, or swelling—can be attributed to several potential causes.
One common reason for such discharge is the presence of pre-ejaculatory fluid, also known as pre-cum. This fluid is produced by the Cowper's glands and can sometimes appear clear or slightly cloudy. It is generally harmless and can occur during sexual arousal or stimulation, even if ejaculation does not occur.
However, given your recent unprotected sexual encounter, it is important to consider other possibilities, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Some STIs, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea, can present with discharge, although they often come with additional symptoms like pain or discomfort during urination, increased frequency of urination, or other systemic symptoms. In some cases, individuals may be asymptomatic, meaning they do not exhibit noticeable symptoms despite being infected.
Another potential cause of urethral discharge could be a non-infectious condition, such as urethritis, which is inflammation of the urethra. This can be caused by various factors, including irritation from frequent masturbation, chemical irritants, or even an allergic reaction.
In terms of whether this condition will resolve on its own, it largely depends on the underlying cause. If it is simply pre-ejaculatory fluid or a minor irritation, it may resolve without any intervention. However, if it is due to an infection, it is unlikely to improve without appropriate treatment.
Given the context of your recent sexual activity, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation. They may recommend testing for STIs, especially if you have concerns about potential exposure. Early detection and treatment of STIs are crucial to prevent complications and further transmission.
In the meantime, it is important to practice safe sex, including the use of condoms, to reduce the risk of STIs in the future. If you notice any changes in your symptoms—such as the development of pain, increased discharge, or any other unusual signs—do not hesitate to seek medical attention promptly.
In summary, while the clear white discharge you are experiencing may not be immediately alarming, it is essential to consider the possibility of STIs, especially following unprotected intercourse. Consulting a healthcare provider will provide you with the best course of action and peace of mind.
