Persistent bleeding from the urethral opening?

Hello Doctor: I noticed blood in my underwear starting last night.
However, since there is no pain or external injury, I discovered the symptoms later.
There is a continuous slight bleeding from the urethral opening, but it hasn't stopped (no urine, no pain).
When I urinate, there is only noticeable blood at the beginning, while the rest appears normal, feeling like I am just flushing out blood that has accumulated in the urethra.
I do not have any symptoms such as lower back pain or burning sensation in the urethra.
I would like to ask if this situation qualifies as hematuria that requires urgent medical attention, or could it simply be a minor injury to the urethra?

Hello: You should seek medical attention to at least stop the bleeding.
If it is simply a wound inside the urethra, it will take longer to heal than a regular wound due to the nature of urination.
It is recommended to have an examination and take medication afterward.
Wishing you good health.

When it comes to persistent urethral bleeding, it is essential to take the situation seriously, even if there are no accompanying symptoms such as pain or visible injury. The presence of blood in the urine, known as hematuria, can indicate various underlying conditions, some of which may require prompt medical attention.

In your case, the fact that you are experiencing continuous bleeding from the urethra without pain or other symptoms is concerning. While it is possible that the bleeding could be due to a minor injury or irritation of the urethra, it is also important to consider other potential causes. These can include urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney stones, or more serious conditions such as tumors or lesions in the urinary tract.

Given that you mentioned the bleeding is persistent and occurs during urination, it is advisable to seek medical attention as soon as possible. A healthcare professional will be able to conduct a thorough evaluation, which may include a physical examination, urinalysis, and possibly imaging studies such as an ultrasound or CT scan to determine the source of the bleeding.

It is also worth noting that while some cases of hematuria can be benign, such as those caused by exercise or minor trauma, the risk of serious conditions should not be overlooked. For instance, in older adults or individuals with a history of urinary tract issues, the likelihood of more severe underlying problems increases.

In summary, while it may be tempting to wait and see if the bleeding resolves on its own, it is crucial to err on the side of caution. Persistent urethral bleeding warrants a medical evaluation to rule out any serious conditions and to receive appropriate treatment if necessary. If you experience any additional symptoms, such as fever, chills, or worsening bleeding, seek emergency care immediately. Your health and well-being should always be the top priority.
