Please let the doctor answer your question. Thank you!
If you had a miscarriage at a clinic last April, will doctors at other hospitals know about it? I checked on my phone and it mentioned irregular menstruation and pelvic examination fees.
I also visited twice more, categorized as vaginitis due to other specified diseases, vulvitis, vulvovaginitis, and vaginal hematoma, along with a gynecological ultrasound.
Since I have relatives working at the hospital (at the registration desk) and I don't want to be discovered, I would like to know what they will see when I register.
Thank you, doctor!

More Info
When it comes to medical records and the confidentiality of your health history, it's important to understand how information is shared and accessed within the healthcare system. In general, healthcare providers are bound by strict confidentiality laws and regulations, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in the United States, which protects patients' medical information from being disclosed without their consent.
In your case, if you had an abortion last April and are concerned about whether future doctors will know about it, the answer largely depends on how your medical records are managed and what information is documented. Typically, medical records are kept confidential, and unless you provide consent for specific information to be shared, healthcare providers at different facilities will not have access to your complete medical history.
However, there are a few key points to consider:
1. Documentation: If you visited a clinic for an abortion, that visit would be documented in your medical records. If you later visit another healthcare provider, they may ask for your medical history, which could include questions about previous surgeries or procedures. If you do not disclose this information, the new provider would not automatically know about your abortion unless they have access to your previous medical records.
2. Access to Records: In many healthcare systems, providers can access a patient's medical history if they are part of the same network or if you have authorized them to obtain your records. If you are concerned about privacy, you can request that certain information not be shared or that your records remain confidential.
3. What Will Be Visible: When you register at a new healthcare facility, the staff may see your past visits and any diagnoses or treatments documented in your records. However, the specifics of what they can see depend on the policies of the facility and the permissions you have granted. If you are worried about your previous abortion being noted, you might want to inquire about the facility's privacy policies when you register.
4. Your Rights: You have the right to request copies of your medical records and to understand what information is shared with other providers. If you are uncomfortable with certain aspects of your medical history being shared, you can discuss this with your healthcare provider and ask about your options for maintaining confidentiality.
5. Future Visits: During future visits, if you choose to disclose your medical history, you can control what information you share. It is always advisable to be honest with your healthcare provider, as this can help them provide the best care for you. However, you are not obligated to disclose every detail of your medical history unless it is relevant to your current health concerns.
In summary, while your previous abortion may be documented in your medical records, future healthcare providers will not automatically know about it unless you choose to share that information or unless they have access to your past records. It's essential to understand your rights regarding medical privacy and to communicate openly with your healthcare providers about any concerns you may have. If you have specific worries about confidentiality, consider discussing them directly with your new healthcare provider to ensure you feel comfortable and secure in your care.
