Missed menstruation?
Hello doctor, I had protected sexual intercourse at the beginning of the month, but now my period is two weeks late.
I have taken four pregnancy tests: the first one was eight days after intercourse, the second was on the thirteenth day, the third was on the eighteenth day (when my period was delayed by a week), and the last one was on the twenty-fifth day (when my period was delayed by two weeks).
I used three different brands of pregnancy tests, and all showed one line.
Is there still a possibility of pregnancy? My menstrual cycle is often irregular, but I am still very worried...
Thank you.

It's understandable to feel anxious when your period is late, especially after having unprotected sex, even if you used condoms. Based on your description, it seems that you've taken multiple pregnancy tests over the course of several weeks, all of which have returned negative results. This is a strong indicator that you are not pregnant.
Pregnancy tests work by detecting the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine, which is produced after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. Generally, these tests are most accurate when taken after a missed period, as hCG levels are typically high enough to be detected at that time. Since you mentioned that you took the tests at various intervals after your last sexual encounter and all returned negative, the likelihood of being pregnant is quite low.
However, there are several factors that could contribute to a missed period aside from pregnancy. Stress is a significant factor that can disrupt your menstrual cycle. Emotional stress, anxiety about potential pregnancy, or even changes in your routine can lead to hormonal imbalances that may delay your period. Additionally, lifestyle factors such as changes in diet, exercise, weight fluctuations, or illness can also affect your menstrual cycle.
You mentioned that your periods are often irregular, which can complicate the situation. Irregular cycles can be caused by a variety of factors, including hormonal imbalances, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid issues, or other underlying health conditions. If your periods are consistently irregular, it might be worth consulting with a healthcare provider to explore potential underlying causes.
Given that you've already taken multiple tests and they have all been negative, it may be beneficial to wait a little longer to see if your period arrives. If it does not come within the next week, consider reaching out to a healthcare professional for further evaluation. They may recommend a blood test, which can detect pregnancy earlier than urine tests, or they may want to investigate other potential causes for your missed period.
In summary, while the negative pregnancy tests suggest that you are not pregnant, it's essential to consider other factors that could be affecting your menstrual cycle. If your period does not arrive soon, or if you continue to experience anxiety about the situation, seeking medical advice would be a prudent step. Your health and peace of mind are important, and a healthcare provider can offer guidance tailored to your specific situation.
