Sometimes I feel that one side of my ear feels strange?
I mainly experience this sensation when wearing headphones; my left ear feels slightly quieter than my right ear (it's not an issue with the headphones, as I've had others try them).
Additionally, my left ear has a tingling sensation, similar to the feeling of something being placed between my eyes, along with a slight sting.
After removing the headphones, the sensation improves.
When listening to others speak or watching television, I don't notice the left ear being quieter; however, it varies from time to time.
Sometimes the condition is very mild or even absent, while other times it can be somewhat severe.
I'm unsure if this is due to my previous excessive ear cleaning or if I might have injured my ear while doing so, as I once removed a significant amount of earwax from my left ear.
It could also be related to blowing my nose too forcefully.
Occasionally, when I take a deep breath, I feel as if air is entering my left ear, creating a hollow, cool sensation.
I previously visited an otolaryngologist, but the doctor recommended that I go to a larger hospital.
I thought it might not be serious, so I didn't follow up with a hospital visit.

Understanding unusual ear sensations can be quite perplexing, especially when they manifest as a combination of auditory changes and physical sensations like tingling or mild pain. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing a range of symptoms in your left ear, including a sensation of reduced volume, tingling, and occasional sharp pain, particularly when using headphones.
Firstly, it’s important to consider the potential causes of these sensations. One common issue that can lead to such symptoms is earwax buildup. If you have been cleaning your ears frequently, it’s possible that you may have inadvertently pushed earwax deeper into the ear canal, leading to a blockage. This can cause a feeling of fullness, reduced hearing, and even discomfort or pain. The fact that you mentioned removing a significant amount of earwax previously supports this possibility.
Another potential cause could be Eustachian tube dysfunction. The Eustachian tube connects the middle ear to the back of the nose and helps equalize pressure in the ear. If you have been blowing your nose forcefully, it could lead to pressure changes that affect your ear. This might explain the sensation of air moving in your ear during deep breaths, as well as the feeling of fullness or pressure. When the Eustachian tube does not function properly, it can create a sensation of muffled hearing or a feeling of “clogged” ears.
Additionally, the tingling sensation you described could be related to nerve irritation or even muscle tension around the ear. If you have a history of muscle tension, particularly if you are a person with cerebral palsy as mentioned in previous queries, this could contribute to unusual sensations in the ear. Stress and anxiety can also exacerbate these symptoms, leading to heightened awareness of bodily sensations.
Given that your symptoms fluctuate and are sometimes mild, it may be tempting to dismiss them. However, it is crucial to monitor these sensations closely. If they persist, worsen, or are accompanied by other symptoms such as significant pain, dizziness, or changes in balance, it would be wise to seek medical attention. An ENT (ear, nose, and throat) specialist can conduct a thorough examination, which may include an otoscopic examination to check for earwax buildup or signs of infection, and possibly a hearing test to assess any changes in your auditory function.
In summary, while your symptoms may not seem severe at the moment, they warrant attention, especially given your history of ear cleaning and potential Eustachian tube dysfunction. It’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to ear health, as untreated issues can lead to more significant problems down the line. If you decide to seek further evaluation, be sure to communicate all your symptoms clearly to your healthcare provider, as this will aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment.
