Preputial acne issues?
Hello doctor, I would like to ask about a situation where I have had a circumcision, and there are two small bumps that have formed in the area where the foreskin was removed, specifically at the corona.
Is this normal? Additionally, there is a lump at the frenulum area where the foreskin was cut, and it feels like there is also a bump that seems to be larger than the others.
Is this related? There are also a few bumps near the stitches from the circumcision.
Is this normal? Are the bumps I mentioned earlier what are referred to online as Fordyce spots? Can there be blackheads on the bumps located on the circumcised skin? Since I have not engaged in sexual intercourse (other than masturbation), I assume I should not have any sexually transmitted infections, right? A doctor previously mentioned that the two bumps looked like pimples, but I later noticed that there are also bumps near the frenulum, which made me wonder if they are the same thing.
If I were to squeeze those bumps, is there anything I need to be cautious about? Should I apply any medication?

Hello: There is usually no need to squeeze it out.
If you want to do so, please consult a physician to confirm that it is an acne lesion.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
Pearly penile papules (PPP) are small, harmless bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans penis. They are often mistaken for sexually transmitted infections or other medical conditions, but they are a normal anatomical variant and not a cause for concern. Here’s a detailed overview of PPP, their causes, and care tips.
Understanding Pearly Penile Papules
1. What Are They?
Pearly penile papules are small, dome-shaped, skin-colored or white bumps that usually appear in rows around the corona of the glans. They are generally 1-2 mm in size and are more common in uncircumcised males, although they can also be seen in circumcised individuals.
2. Causes
The exact cause of pearly penile papules is not fully understood, but they are thought to be a normal variant of the skin. They are not caused by any infection, sexually transmitted disease, or poor hygiene. Instead, they are believed to be a result of the natural anatomy of the penis.
3. Differentiation from Other Conditions
It’s essential to differentiate PPP from other conditions that may present similarly, such as Fordyce spots, which are small, painless, pale bumps that can appear on the shaft of the penis and are also normal sebaceous glands. Other conditions that may require medical attention include genital warts, molluscum contagiosum, or other lesions that may indicate an infection or disease.
Care Tips
1. Do Not Squeeze or Pop
It is crucial not to attempt to squeeze or pop these papules. Doing so can lead to irritation, inflammation, or even infection. If you feel the need to remove them for cosmetic reasons, consult a healthcare provider for safe removal options.
2. Hygiene
Maintaining good hygiene is essential. Regular washing with mild soap and water is sufficient. Avoid using harsh soaps or chemicals that can irritate the sensitive skin of the genital area.
3. Observation
If the papules remain unchanged in appearance and do not cause discomfort, no treatment is necessary. However, if you notice any changes in size, color, or if they become painful, it is advisable to seek medical advice.
4. Consult a Healthcare Provider
If you have concerns about the bumps or if they are accompanied by other symptoms (such as pain, itching, or discharge), it is best to consult a healthcare provider. They can provide a proper diagnosis and reassurance.
5. Sexual Health
Since you mentioned that you have not engaged in sexual intercourse, the likelihood of these bumps being related to a sexually transmitted infection is low. However, if you have concerns about your sexual health or any symptoms that arise, it is always wise to consult a healthcare professional.
Conclusion
In summary, pearly penile papules are a common and benign condition that does not require treatment unless desired for cosmetic reasons. They are not indicative of any underlying health issues, especially in the absence of other symptoms. If you have any doubts or if the bumps change in appearance, it is always best to consult with a healthcare provider for peace of mind and appropriate care. Remember, maintaining good hygiene and avoiding unnecessary manipulation of the area will help keep your genital health in check.
