The unclear lump under the tongue is suspected to be a wart?
I have some unexplained bumps under my tongue that seem to appear more frequently when I stay up late or have an irregular schedule (about 3 to 4 bumps).
They don't hurt at all (I don't feel pain when I touch or lick them, unless I use my fingernail to scrape).
I visited a dentist, but they didn't ask about it, and the doctor didn't mention anything during the examination.
Recently, I've become particularly concerned and I'm afraid it might be oral warts.
I have oral sex with my boyfriend, but in the seven months we've been together, he hasn't shown any symptoms of warts.
We always use condoms for vaginal intercourse, and I regularly visit a gynecologist, with no abnormalities found in my vagina.
I would like to ask the doctor if these bumps are normal.
I've attached three photos of the area under my tongue: https://imgur.com/a/sPX93z62.
Additionally, I want to know if the circular raised area at the very bottom of my tongue is normal.
Thank you, doctor!

Hello: Upon initial examination, it appears to be normal tongue tissue.
If you have concerns, you may visit a clinic for a check-up to confirm.

When it comes to unexplained bumps under the tongue, it's understandable to feel concerned, especially with the potential implications of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as human papillomavirus (HPV), which can cause warts. However, it’s important to note that not all bumps or lesions in the oral cavity are indicative of warts or other serious conditions.
The bumps you are experiencing under your tongue could be a variety of things. Common causes include:
1. Lingual Papillae: The underside of the tongue has numerous small bumps known as lingual papillae, which can sometimes become more prominent due to irritation, stress, or changes in your routine, such as lack of sleep.
2. Mucocele: These are fluid-filled cysts that can occur when a salivary gland is blocked. They are usually painless and can appear as bumps under the tongue.
3. Fordyce Spots: These are small, painless, pale bumps that are actually sebaceous glands and are completely normal. They can appear on the lips and inside the cheeks as well.
4. Oral Warts: While HPV can cause warts in the oral cavity, it’s important to remember that not all bumps are warts. If your boyfriend has not shown any symptoms and you have been practicing safe sex, the likelihood of HPV transmission is reduced, but not eliminated.
5. Other Conditions: Conditions such as oral thrush, lichen planus, or even allergic reactions can also cause bumps or lesions in the mouth.
Regarding the circular raised area at the base of your tongue, this could be a normal anatomical feature. The underside of the tongue has various structures, including the frenulum, which can appear as a raised band. If this area is not painful or causing discomfort, it is likely normal.
Given that you have already seen a dentist and they did not express concern, it may be a sign that what you are experiencing is benign. However, if the bumps persist, change in appearance, or if you develop any additional symptoms such as pain, swelling, or difficulty swallowing, it would be wise to seek further evaluation from a healthcare professional.
In terms of sexual health, it’s always a good idea to maintain open communication with your partner about any concerns regarding STIs. Regular check-ups with your gynecologist and practicing safe sex are excellent ways to monitor your sexual health.
In conclusion, while the bumps under your tongue may be concerning, they are likely not indicative of a serious condition, especially if they are painless and have not changed significantly. However, if you continue to feel anxious about them, consider scheduling a follow-up appointment with a healthcare provider who can provide a thorough examination and peace of mind. Remember, your health and well-being are paramount, and it’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to unexplained symptoms.
