Are you pregnant?
Hello, I had my period on May 11, with a cycle of about 26 to 27 days.
After my period ended, I had sexual intercourse, but my June period did not arrive (it was supposed to come on June 7).
I had sexual intercourse in the middle of the month as well, but I took two pregnancy tests and they were negative.
I feel sleepy, have abdominal bloating and pain similar to uterine contractions, increased urinary frequency, and there is a clear, watery discharge from my genital area.
Could I be pregnant despite not having my period and having had sexual intercourse? How long should I wait to take a pregnancy test for accurate results?

When it comes to the possibility of pregnancy, understanding the timing of your menstrual cycle, the symptoms you experience, and the accuracy of pregnancy tests is crucial. Based on your description, let's break down your situation and provide some insights.
Firstly, you mentioned that your last menstrual period started on May 11, and you typically have a cycle of about 26 to 27 days. This means you would expect your next period around June 6 to June 7. Since you have not had your period by mid-June, this could be a sign of pregnancy, especially if you have had unprotected sexual intercourse during your fertile window.
You also noted that you have taken two pregnancy tests, both of which returned negative results. It's important to understand that the timing of the test can significantly affect its accuracy. Home pregnancy tests work by detecting the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in your urine, which is produced shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. The levels of hCG rise rapidly in early pregnancy, but it may take time for the hormone to reach detectable levels in your urine.
For the most accurate results, it is generally recommended to take a pregnancy test after you have missed your period. Since your period was expected around June 6 to June 7, testing around that time or a few days later would provide a more reliable result. If you tested too early, it is possible that your body had not yet produced enough hCG to be detected.
Regarding the symptoms you are experiencing—such as increased fatigue, abdominal bloating, and changes in vaginal discharge—these can be indicative of early pregnancy, but they can also be related to other factors such as hormonal fluctuations, stress, or premenstrual syndrome (PMS). The feeling of abdominal cramping or bloating can mimic menstrual cramps or be a sign of ovulation, especially if you are close to your expected period.
If you continue to experience these symptoms and your period does not arrive, it would be advisable to wait a few days and then retest. If you still receive a negative result but your period does not come, consider consulting a healthcare provider. They may recommend a blood test, which can detect pregnancy earlier and more accurately than a urine test.
In summary, based on your cycle and the timing of your sexual activity, there is a possibility of pregnancy. However, the negative pregnancy tests suggest that you may not be pregnant, especially if taken too early. Monitor your symptoms, wait a few days, and retest if necessary. If you have further concerns or if your symptoms worsen, seeking medical advice is always a good step. Remember, every individual’s body reacts differently, and only a healthcare professional can provide personalized guidance based on your specific situation.
