Regarding secretions?
Hello, doctor.
I'm back with a question that may involve gynecological issues, but since it appeared in my urine, I'm consulting you here.
In early June, I underwent a dilation and curettage (D&C) due to endometrial thickening.
Prior to the D&C, I experienced a return of vaginal discharge after menopause, which led me to seek a gynecological examination and discover the aforementioned issue.
After the D&C, I no longer had any discharge, but recently, over the past week, I started experiencing yellow discharge accompanied by itching.
Yesterday, I visited the gynecologist for an internal examination, and the doctor diagnosed inflammation, prescribing ZITHROMAX 250mg, BETAMETHASONE 10mg, and FROTN 250mg.
I began using these medications last night, but strangely, while my urine was clear before, this morning I noticed white discharge.
When I wiped with tissue, it resembled cottage cheese.
Is this a gynecological issue or a urinary problem? I'm confused.

Hello: There are many gynecological issues.
If possible, I suggest you wash the lower area before urinating.
If the problem persists, it may be related to something in your urine.
Additionally, drink plenty of water.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
It sounds like you're experiencing a complex issue that may involve both gynecological and urological concerns. Given your recent history of endometrial thickening and the subsequent dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure, it's understandable that you're feeling confused about the symptoms you're currently experiencing.
Firstly, the presence of yellow discharge accompanied by itching suggests a possible infection, which could be either a vaginal infection (such as a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis) or a urinary tract infection (UTI). The fact that you mentioned the discharge resembling "cottage cheese" is particularly indicative of a yeast infection, which is characterized by thick, white, clumpy discharge and often accompanied by itching and irritation.
The medications prescribed to you—Zithromax (an antibiotic), Betamethasone (a corticosteroid), and Frotn (which I assume is an antifungal or another type of medication)—indicate that your physician is treating a suspected infection. It's important to follow the prescribed regimen and complete the full course of antibiotics or antifungals, even if your symptoms improve before finishing the medication.
Regarding your concern about whether this is a gynecological or urological issue, it can sometimes be challenging to differentiate between the two, especially when symptoms overlap. For instance, a UTI can cause discomfort and changes in urinary habits, while a gynecological infection can lead to abnormal discharge and irritation. The key is to monitor your symptoms closely. If you experience increased urgency or frequency of urination, burning during urination, or lower abdominal pain, these could be signs of a UTI.
Since you have recently undergone a D&C, it's also crucial to be aware of any post-operative complications. While D&C is generally safe, it can sometimes lead to infections or other issues. If your symptoms persist or worsen, or if you develop fever, chills, or severe abdominal pain, you should seek medical attention promptly.
In terms of prevention, maintaining good hygiene, wearing breathable cotton underwear, and avoiding irritants such as scented soaps or douches can help reduce the risk of infections. Additionally, if you have a history of recurrent infections, discussing this with your healthcare provider may lead to further evaluation and management strategies.
In summary, your symptoms could be indicative of a gynecological infection, possibly exacerbated by your recent D&C. It's essential to follow your doctor's advice, complete your medications, and keep an eye on your symptoms. If you have any doubts or if your condition does not improve, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for further evaluation. They may recommend additional tests, such as a urinalysis or a culture of the discharge, to pinpoint the exact cause of your symptoms and ensure appropriate treatment.
