Contraceptive issues?
Hello doctor, I am currently taking Yaz birth control pills.
I usually take my pill at 10:30 PM, but I forgot to take it on Thursday and only remembered on Friday at 9 PM.
I took one pill at that time and then took another one at 10:30 PM.
Is this correct? Will the contraceptive effect remain intact? I will finish the active pills on October 7, and I have four inactive pills left, which I will finish by October 11.
However, I expect my period to start between October 11 and October 13, but I have an event and would like to delay my period.
I went to the gynecologist and received medication to delay my period.
The doctor advised me to finish the active pills by October 7 and to skip the inactive pills, instead taking Shiton S.C.
Tablets "Yu Sheng" once a day, two tablets at a time.
Will I still have contraceptive protection during this period? Is it complete?

When it comes to understanding birth control, particularly regarding missed pills and menstrual delays, it is essential to grasp how hormonal contraceptives work and the implications of missed doses. You mentioned that you are taking a combined oral contraceptive pill (OCP), which is commonly used for preventing pregnancy and managing menstrual cycles.
Firstly, if you missed a pill, the general recommendation is to take it as soon as you remember. Since you forgot to take your pill on Thursday and remembered on Friday evening, taking the missed pill at that time was the correct action. Following that, taking another pill at your regular time (10:30 PM) is also acceptable. However, it is crucial to note that taking two pills in one day can sometimes lead to side effects such as nausea or breakthrough bleeding, but it does not compromise the contraceptive effectiveness if you follow the instructions correctly.
Regarding the effectiveness of your birth control after a missed pill, it generally remains effective if you take the missed pill within 24 hours of the scheduled time. Since you took the missed pill and continued with your regular schedule, your contraceptive protection should still be intact. However, if you miss more than one pill or if you miss a pill during the first week of a new pack, additional contraceptive measures (like condoms) are recommended for at least seven days.
You also mentioned that you will be finishing your effective pills on October 7 and that your period is expected between October 11 and October 13. If you are planning to delay your period using medication prescribed by your gynecologist, it is important to follow their instructions carefully. The doctor advised you to finish the effective pills and skip the placebo (or non-effective) pills, which is a common practice to delay menstruation.
Regarding the use of "shiton s.c. Tablets 'yu sheng'" during this period, it is essential to clarify with your healthcare provider about the interaction between this medication and your birth control pills. Generally, if you are taking a medication that is not known to interfere with hormonal contraceptives, you should still have contraceptive protection. However, some medications can affect the metabolism of birth control pills, potentially reducing their effectiveness. Therefore, it is crucial to confirm with your doctor whether the "yu sheng" tablets will impact your contraceptive efficacy.
In summary, based on the information provided, you should still have effective contraception as long as you follow the guidelines for missed pills and the instructions given by your healthcare provider regarding the use of the new medication. If you have any concerns about the effectiveness of your birth control or the interaction with the new medication, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider for personalized advice. They can provide the most accurate information based on your specific health situation and the medications involved.
