Pain in the groin during ejaculation?

Hello doctor, I would like to ask why I experience pain in my groin during ejaculation.
Just now, after masturbating, I felt a pulling pain in my groin at the moment of ejaculation, and the distance of ejaculation was significantly farther than usual.
Although the pain has subsided after some time, it was quite noticeable and uncomfortable at that moment.
Earlier today, I also went to the gym to work on my legs; could that be the cause? This is the first time I've experienced this situation, so it makes me quite anxious.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Chen Xiansheng, 20~29 year old female. Ask Date: 2019/10/13

Pain in the groin during ejaculation may be related to the contraction or spasm of the pelvic floor muscles.
This phenomenon is not common, but if the pain has subsided, there is no need for excessive concern.

Experiencing pain in the groin during ejaculation can be concerning, and it's understandable that you're seeking answers. There are several potential causes for this type of pain, and it's important to consider various factors that could contribute to the discomfort you're experiencing.

One of the most common reasons for groin pain during ejaculation is muscular strain. If you recently engaged in leg workouts at the gym, it's possible that you may have strained a muscle in the pelvic region or groin area. The muscles in this region can become tense or overworked, leading to discomfort during activities such as ejaculation. This is especially true if you performed exercises that heavily engaged the hip flexors, adductors, or other muscles surrounding the groin.

Another possibility is that the pain could be related to the prostate gland. The prostate is a small gland located just below the bladder and surrounds the urethra. During ejaculation, the prostate contracts to help expel semen, and if there is any inflammation or irritation present, it can lead to discomfort or pain. Conditions such as prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) or benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlargement of the prostate) can cause pain during ejaculation.

Additionally, nerve irritation or compression in the pelvic area can also lead to pain during ejaculation. The pudendal nerve, which supplies sensation to the genital area, can become irritated due to various factors, including physical activity, prolonged sitting, or even certain postures during sexual activity.

It's worth noting that the distance of ejaculation can vary for many reasons, including arousal levels, physical condition, and even hydration status. If you noticed a significant change in the distance of ejaculation along with the pain, it might be related to increased muscle contractions or tension in the pelvic floor muscles during the process.

While the pain you experienced was temporary and has since resolved, it's important to monitor your symptoms. If the pain recurs, becomes more severe, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as swelling, redness, or changes in urination, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional. They can perform a thorough evaluation, which may include a physical examination and possibly imaging studies, to rule out any underlying conditions.

In the meantime, consider taking it easy on your workouts, especially those that target the legs and pelvic region. Stretching and gentle exercises may help alleviate any muscle tension. Additionally, staying hydrated and practicing relaxation techniques can also be beneficial.

In summary, while occasional groin pain during ejaculation can occur due to muscular strain, prostate issues, or nerve irritation, it's essential to pay attention to your body and seek medical advice if the symptoms persist or worsen. Taking care of your physical health and being aware of any changes in your body can help you maintain your well-being.
