White spots on the glans?
Hello Doctor: I have developed white spots next to the glans, as shown in the image: https://ppt.cc/fl1RQx (password: 0000).
I have not engaged in any risky sexual behavior and believe it is more likely to be pearly penile papules.
However, I am concerned it might be genital warts and would like to ask for your opinion and whether I should seek a clinic examination.

To confirm, only a biopsy can provide certainty, but it may be unnecessary; it is recommended to simply monitor the situation.

When it comes to the appearance of white spots on the glans, it is important to differentiate between benign conditions and those that may require medical attention. Based on your description and the context provided, it seems that you are concerned about the possibility of pearly penile papules (PPP) versus other conditions such as genital warts (caused by the human papillomavirus, HPV).
Pearly penile papules are small, dome-shaped, white or skin-colored bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans. They are a normal anatomical variant and are not considered a sexually transmitted infection (STI). PPP is quite common and is seen in many men, particularly those who are uncircumcised. They are harmless and do not require treatment unless they cause psychological distress or concern.
On the other hand, genital warts, which are caused by certain strains of HPV, can also appear as small bumps on the genital area, including the glans. These warts may vary in appearance, sometimes resembling cauliflower, and can be itchy or uncomfortable. Unlike PPP, genital warts are contagious and can be transmitted through sexual contact.
Given that you have not engaged in high-risk sexual behavior, the likelihood of your white spots being genital warts may be lower, but it is not impossible. It is always best to err on the side of caution when it comes to changes in your body, especially in sensitive areas.
Here are some additional points to consider:
1. Self-Examination: Take note of the characteristics of the white spots. Are they smooth, dome-shaped, and uniform in appearance? If so, they are more likely to be pearly penile papules. If they are irregular, have a rough texture, or are changing in size or shape, this warrants further investigation.
2. Symptoms: Pay attention to any accompanying symptoms. If you experience pain, itching, bleeding, or any changes in the appearance of the spots, it is advisable to seek medical attention.
3. Consultation: Since you have concerns about the nature of these spots, it would be prudent to schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider, preferably a urologist or dermatologist. They can perform a physical examination and, if necessary, conduct further tests to determine the exact nature of the spots.
4. Prevention and Awareness: Regardless of the outcome, it is essential to maintain good genital hygiene and consider regular check-ups, especially if you have a family history of STIs or other related conditions. Additionally, vaccination against HPV can significantly reduce the risk of developing genital warts and certain types of cancer associated with the virus.
In conclusion, while pearly penile papules are generally harmless and common, it is always wise to consult a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and peace of mind. Early detection and intervention can help address any potential issues effectively.
